I own a 20223 Maverick XLT Hybrid. I scheduled an appointment for replacing the side curtain airbags under the recall notice. Four days prior to the appointment, the check engine light comes on, and the code indicates the Exhaust Heat Exchanger Exhaust Bypass Valve "a" Position Sensor Circuit. Two days later, the vehicle will not start. When I jumped the 12V battery, the initial battery reading was 4.8V. The Dealer replaced the battery indicating a faulty battery (this was after operating the vehicle for 9 months). Two weeks later, the vehicle would not start, and the new battery had a voltage of 5.2V. The dealer again replaced the battery indicating a faulty battery again.

Two weeks later I noticed the auxillary lighting did not come on when the doors opened, and the 12 V battery tested ~9V. I took the vehicle to the dealer, who kept it for 3 days looking for a "phantom draw". The vehicle was returned on Friday with the indication that no faults were fine and the battery tested good. On Moday, the vehicle would not start, and the 12 V battery was reading 4.9V.

Does anyone know if the Valve A Position Sensor Circuit could be the drain on the 12V battery?

Thank you

I had the same problem. My safety alerts quit as well as the stop-start. The engine running due to a low battery warning came up. The dealer told me if the battery goes below 80% this will happen. I asked if the alternator was bad they said no. The battery was at 45% and was defective. It was replaced and everything is running fine so far.

I had similar issue. they were no help. I shut off bluetooth, wifi, deleted ford pass, put keys in a metal box, shut off apple play and everything fires right up every morning then I just click everything back on when I drive. I think truck is searching for connections and 12V drains in about 18 hours if just sitting

Hey Elgin Kenny, how is your vehicle after doing all the things in your post? I have a 2020 Escape HEV that has now spent 3+ months at the dealer for the battery drain issue. They've done a number of things to no avail. After they replaced my 12v battery, I was good for about 7 days then the same issue as you, went down to ~5v in less than 24 hours. Initially they found the DSP (audio) module was staying live, so they replaced it and that didn't help. Last week they were told to replace the TCU module since that was now drawing power when the vehicle was off. They did and it's still drawing power. Forget what module the just replaced today but it must not have worked since 4 hours after doing it my vehicle is back in Deep Sleep. Ford Tech Line seems useless and in some cases didn't get back to the dealer for a week or more at a time with the repair to try. Just curious, I'm trying all I can not to have to file a lemon law claim, but this is a bit crazy. Thanks

Had similar issues but mine was a bad battery. I replaced it with a 24f battery with 720 CCA. With a 24f battery, slight modifications will be needed to the battery holder bar (24f is taller). I also put a 7w solar pannel connected directly to the battery for a trickle charge.

Hi, just took truck to Tennessee and Wisconsin. No issues after shutting down every tech connection, deleting the ford app and locking my keys in a metal box. I think my vehicle was spending hours trying to connect with wi-fi or Blue tooth etc and then I'd drain around 18-24 hours. I would try to disconnect everything and keep keys away it worked for me hope that helps Kenny

I left the Maverick with the dealer for 3 weeks and kept getting periodic updates indicating they were conducting all kind of tests, but could not locate the power drain or duplicate the trouble. They claim they even had a "Field Engineer" review the issue and provide guidance on how to proceed. I told them to take the vehicle for a 30-minute drive at freeway speeds and retest the system, which they claim they did. Then suddenly I get a call saying the vehicle was fixed after replacing the 12V battery again and replacing the exhaust system to correct the Heat Exchanger Bypass Sensor "A". 12 days with no trouble now, keeping fingers crossed

8 months after FINALY receiving my FORD MAVERICK Hybrid XLT, it DIED. Had to have it (dragged-no tether) Towed to the dealer. One whole week later they told me it was just a defective battery. That's OK, I can understand a freak, one in a billion goofed up car battery. Two days ago, or 3 months later, It's DEAD again. I am trading it in at the Volkswagen Dealer tomorrow, (if it starts). I have a Doctor visit first, I will ask for some American made, anti depressant medication, or should I ask for foreign made medication ? I'm not angry, I am Mad !

Did you try shutting off all the connections on the computer panel at night and locking the truck doors ? All ford pass connectivity, wifi, apple play and Blue tooth as well as making sure air conditioning, fan etc is shut off ? I still think these trucks are draining because they are searching all night for connectivity to other devices
