Trying to use the bed 12v power outlets to wire some bedlights but I’m getting 0 power to any of the connections. Checked the fuse box just in case it wasn’t powered from my equipment package, but there’s a fuse there. Everything I see and read is just plug and play into the outlet. Am I missing something?

Vehicle has to be running to activate. Then you can turn off and should be on a timer til it runs out.

Once you get this working, would you mind sharing here what you did to set it up? I'm considering something similar.

I tested the leads with the vehicle running off in the on position and I was only getting maybe 100 mil volts compared to the 12 that it is rated for that’s why I was wondering if there is a thing that I’m missing that’s not allowing the power to get to the outlet

I know I am asking the silly question, but are you hooking them up right?
LEDs only work one way.

I wish it was that simple. I haven’t hooked the lights up yet because I wanted to verify power output. Unfortunately even with the truck running and all of its lights on, the bed outlets have 0 power

I didn’t want to ask the obvious question, but my cousin worked at a call center for d-link. He would tell me stories about people that would wonder why their routers weren’t working and it would be because they weren’t plugged into the wall. Or something stupid like that.

The Can buss has to detect a load before powers up the circuit.

I do not know but maybe the 100 mil volts is all that your test is drawing and the can bus is checking circuit to see if something is plugged in and turned on so it can activate the circuit,???

My experience says if its not getting power when off, the battery is too low. I had a parasitic drain happening for a little while and the first symptom of that was the bed power not functioning unless the truck was on. Then the interiors stopped working, then deep sleep warnings.

To those mentioning the can bus, part of my testing when I wasn’t getting power was hooking up the light leads to see if maybe my multi meter was bad. I’ll try taking it into ford in the next little bit when I have some warranty work done. See if they see anything or have a tip for me. It just sucks a “plug n play” system from ford doesn’t work

FWIW, the USB port I put in the bed has a voltage meter in it. It can't draw much more than a mulit-meter and it shows voltage as soon as the key us turned.

I’m going to sound really stupid. It was the Fuse. Not having anything plugged into or any work done, I expected the fuse to be good. Looked into the grounding wire, and when everything was good I actually pulled the fuse out. It was blown on one of the stems, not the center. Will post what the lights look like when installed. Thanks for the help.

I know it’s been a bit. I kept forgetting to post. I ran the lights on the upper ledge of the bed, not on the lip of the cowling. From there I ran the power cable through the cowling popping out right under the rear glass to the other side. The control box is Bluetooth so I have it tucked behind the storage container. I did route the master switch to the back wall next to the 12V outlet.
