400w is the max it can handle and no more than 15A. If the charger doesn't draw more than that, it's a no go.

I think that gets turned off when truck is off?...

Even if it stays off, it will be draining juice from the inverter- is that coming from the 12v or the 400v? If it's the 400v, I wouldn't trust it to keep going as it will eventually get too low and shut off.

You're asking whether the 110vac outlet which is powered by the truck's inverter which is powered by the truck's battery can be used to charge the truck's battery.

I think the OP question is about charging the battery in the vehicle they are towing. That is how I read it. And to do that I think others suggest just running a 12-volt wire in the loom that goes to the towed vehicle and plugging it in under that hood.

The vehicle he is driving has both batteries being charged if it is a hybrid, otherwise just the regular one if ICE. So why would he be asking about charging a battery if it is not in the towed vehicle? That is my take. Implied logic with heavy assumptions added for confusion and misdiagnosis. Works every time.

I would just run an extension cord to the towed vehicle and plug in your charger to the cord then the 12 volt battery.
