I don't like the auto stop/start function so I just hit the button next to the parking brake release and disable it before I put the truck in gear.

I do not know if it is 100 percent, but it seems like it can usually be controlled by how you apply the brake. If I want to engage, I hit the brake firmly. If not, I bring the vehicle to a slow stop by applying and maintaining light brake pressure. Seems to work for me.

100% ⬆. If I roll to a stop the auto start/stop does not engage. If I then press the brake firmly the engine will cut off until I give it some gas. Works perfect for me. Once the engine is off and I release the break the engine still stays off until I'm ready to move. Seems like a good way to save some gas while waiting for say a long red light.

Has anyone ever tried to figure out if the gas savings is worth the starter replacement cost. I know they beefed them up a lil for this function but i still heard that the auto start/stop wears out the starters fast.

The auto stop issue is really an overstep in regulations. Hope its a stop gap. Glad hybrids have AC separate from running engine. Can’t stand the loss of AC for 4 mins stops on a 2 mile street with 7 traffic lights.

Don't know how its connected in the Maverick, but on my Ecosport there is a single wire connected to the positive terminal on the battery. Unplug it and the start/stop is disabled. Makes the system think your battery is low so start/'stop won't engage.
