First, every PCV system has 3 main components, an airline to allow air into the engine, a PCV valve and a line from the PCV into the engine so the contaminated air can be burned during combustion. By design the line with all the contaminates is the line from the PCV to the engine. This is the line where a catch can should be installed. On the 2.0 Eco-Boost the PCV valve is located on the side of the engine behind the intake manifold. This is where JLT's can is installed. This keeps the oil from burning on the back of the valves. Bushur installs their can on the line that feeds air into the engine. Saying that, there are companies that offer both a can on the air intake line and the PCV line. Radium for example offers 2 cans plus a PCV plate that adds extra baffles and a heavy duty PCV valve because they sell to the person who is tuning the engine for maximum performance. The harder you work the engine the more blow by there is and under heavy loads the pressure can build up in an engine to the point the contaminates can blow out the air intake line and can get oil in the turbo and intercooler. Drag races have such an issue they need to add a pump to suck blow by out of the engine. Your need for protection varies on how you drive your truck, but the Buscher system ignores the main issue that people have with carbon on the valves.
So are you saying the Buscher system is not designed to reduce intercooler oil contamination and valve build up?

I just received my J&L catch can for my ‘22 TRX, very high quality as always.

I'm catching more oil on the side that JLT has theirs shown. I get a weird orangish condensation that has a slight bit of oil from the one I installed on the passenger side like Buschur's. I'll grab some pics when I check/empty them both again. Personally, I'm running a can at both locations 🤷‍♂️
I agree. Was wondering when someone would address both sides. Would like to know which side is more effective at intercepting contaminants and if two catch can systems (both sides) is the answer. I could easily install the passenger side but the other is more complex and would probably require the wherewithal of a 5th grader.

Drivers side is more important and considered the dirty side.

So what does it do and if it was needed why isn’t it standard equipment?
While there some manufacturers that do include an air/oil separator (MB), most manufacturers won't for fear owners would ignore causing more damage. These are usually the same that would go 12,000 miles between oil changes because the manual says you can. (Or lease owners).

On port injection you would be correct but this is direct injection... big difference.
This is direct injection along with boost. Really big difference. Just YouTube direct injection valve buildup and you will see professional content on this problem.

Do a google search of walnut blasting. This will give you a good idea of what not having a catch can and doing extended oil changes can do to your DI engine.
