Ultimately it’s my decision but I like to hear opinions. I just bought my 2024. They had it on the lot. XL Eco boost vs used 2022 XLT with tow. I took the new one. No scratches or miles and actually cheaper. I’m mostly okay with just having front wheel drive. I’m in Florida so no snow for me! (I’ve had enough). lol. I love the no power seats or mirrors yet I have Apple CarPlay. I even have started really liking those generic stock rims. My very wise brother keeps talking about me just keeping it 100% stock, but I’m all about customizing and projects. Most mods only change appearance and have no functional benefit, yet I like them. Would staying all stock keep more value? I kinda like my brother’s idea but I also love to modify. Anyway, opinions and recommendations please? Thanks

Its a personal thing. I can't help to make my vehicles "mine". I usually start on the interior and work my way to the outside. Every car I have owned had been changed.

Do whatever makes you happy without going broke.

At this point in vehicle production, there are things I find are a must have - like center console organizers and such. But in terms of looks - totally up to you.

I'll put it this way - there are things I've bought for every single vehicle I've had in the past decade and will continue to buy them, like tint, window deflectors and bug deflectors, tonneau covers, storage organizers, floor mats... things of that nature. But as I grow older - the need to customize my vehicle is getting less and less.

Honestly on this Maverick I put wheels and tires on and it will be the last vehicle I ever buy wheels for again. Tires are obviously needed eventually and looking back I'm certain I could have stretched those Pirelli's to their end of life. I'm done lifting, I'm done with engine mods, I'm done with stuff that I'd end up having to take off and trying to sell if I don't end up keeping the vehicle. So if I get something it's probably staying on the vehicle or something I can use for the next vehicle too.

Plus, most of that stuff comes from the factory now anyways. If you want something fast - buy it. If you want something tall - buy it. I think we have reached peak manufacturing options in terms of getting what you actually want, the question is can you afford it and is it practical to you. Modders will always mod - and bless them for it (like the ST from Fast Mavericks which is awesome btw). But I feel I've just outgrown it and I'd rather shop for something that looks great and fills all my needs that I can retain in a stock fashion. So we'll see what happens over the next 5 years and I'm hoping to find something that I can 100% for sure call my end game vehicle.

Opinion: do what you like to make it yours because the value isn't something one should worry about. Unless it’s going in storage for resale in twenty years.

Recommendation: read the threads with changes, mods and customizations. See what the craftsmen here have done. Choose what you’d like to mimic.

Very true. In a garage for 20 years all stock would be cool but it’s my daily driver. These threads are great actually. It’s really cool that there’s a whole following for the Maverick. Thanks for the reply.

Plus some things can always be reversed to stock. Thanks for the reply.

As a daily driver, don't worry about it. Might get totaled before time to resell. As XL, don't worry about it. Most of them get modded anyway. You're the one living with it every day, make it the way you want it.

Yeah, I actually bought it when the car I owned, which had a lot of modifications, got totaled after getting water in the engine from flooding. So you never know.

I won't do anything permanent but there's no way mine will stay stock, I've already got a small but growing stack of parts.

A few fun mods to add a touch of your style aren't going to hurt anything, just leave the sawzall in the toolbox.

I like the stock look of mine but would also like to add the side badge blinker.
I put in the upgraded homelink/compass/autodim mirror, and a dashcam front (power coming from fusebox under passenger footrest).

Modify, Modify, Modify. That is my take. I want it to reflect what I like and keeping it stock would not do that. Then there is the functional part. Do I want the tailgate to come crashing down every time I have to open it? NO! So I put a damper on it.

Do I want to deal with the stupid stick under the hood when I want to do work under it? NO! So put some struts on that hood.

I live in a very wet environment, OR. coast, and I have to walk through a lot of puddles and mud at times so I wanted floor mats that could keep the carpet dry and I could remove to wash. Stock floor mats wouldn't do.

So it is stuff like that and the ability to make it different than all the others out there that drives me to MODIFY, to my heart's content.

I suggest you do the same.
