  1. It happened anyway - rear-ended

Putco LED Tail lights, Putco tailgate light bar, spare tire brake light, LED third brake light, red halo in cube reverse lights tied to brake lights, and sequencing amber LED turn signal did not keep my Jeep from being rear-ended while waiting to turn left. Best of luck with your repairs!
  2. Would you buy it again?

I probably wouldn't but not because there's anything wrong with the truck. It's a nice truck for the price point (2022 XLT). But, I would probably go Ranger or F-150 now. I'd like a longer bed and the ability to add a snow plow. At the time, I had a Wrangler with a plow that I kept for a while...
  3. Requesting opinions on what I should do.

If you can, pay down the loan on the Tesla so you don't have to consider paying interest on negative equity if you trade the Tesla. My personal choice would be the hybrid Maverick. As noted already, it's a step down from the Tesla in terms of content and functionality but it's also going to...
  4. Disappointment and honesty.

As you may recall, Ford knew the risk but decided that the design conformed to industry practice for vehicles in that class. My point is simply that corporate executives or managers do bet the ranch sometimes, knowingly or not, for short-term gains. We've seen something similar with Tesla and...
  5. Disappointment and honesty.

Well, let's not forget the Pinto...
  6. Negative offset wheels?

Your example is correct if he wants -12 to -25 as the actual offset. I read it as he wants to move the offset 12-25mm in a negative direction, which would be .47 inch to just shy of 1" toward the wheel opening.
  7. Disappointment and honesty.

Your frustration with this situation is evident and it's unfortunate that your first post here hasn't gone well. I'd like to offer some pointers on how to get a different response in the future, regardless of whether it's on this forum or another brand forum. The Maverick has been available...
  8. Negative offset wheels?

Since the Maverick is a +37.5 mm offset, a -12 offset will move the wheel out 0.47 inches on a wheel of the same width. I suggest using this site to judge the effect of new wheel specs before buying them. A wider wheel will potentially add to the offset effect.
  9. 2022 vs 2025 Maverick

To me, the correct comparison is between the buyout cost and the cost of a new lease. You'll be paying the dealership fees again and maybe sales tax on a new lease. I'd want to know exactly how the dealership arrived at their number, too, to make sure I was comparing accurately. If you have a...
  10. Military and Flag Decals

I'm ex-Navy so I appreciate the desire to incorporate your service as a way of personalizing your vehicle. The images on the door can make you vehicle look like some kind of law enforcement vehicle until someone looks closely enough to read the text. I ran across this image, though, that ties...
  11. Dealership Labor Rates

I sold my business in 2021 so I don't have a view into current labor rates but, based on what my customers used to tell me, the dealership install rates were significantly higher than ours. I assumed that was a function of higher hourly rates plus longer book time. Since we were not a...
  12. Dealership Labor Rates

California is a different market with a different cost structure than central MA so the labor rates aren't necessarily the same. For example, our labor rate was $75/hour until we bumped it to $90 around 2012. You're also assuming facts not in evidence, as they say. Our customers paid for the...
  13. Dealership Labor Rates

We did the same. If we spent time on it only to discover it didn't fit or wasn't the correct part, the customer still had to pay for the time spent. Remove and replace, same thing. It was on the customer to handle warranty issues on parts they supplied. I'd have to disagree with this. Very few...
  14. Dealership Labor Rates

For accessories and installation, check around for a truck and offroad outfitter in your area. Their labor rates will be lower and likely their prices as well. Independent mechanic shops that will install customer-supplied parts can also be a good option. When I had my shop, we regularly had...
  15. It wasn't a Maverick but the Mercury version

Yes, that's the hill across the way from where the Mavericks were gathered. We've been taking it there every year since 2015. 2024 will be it's last year for Carlisle, but it's going out on top with a class 1st Place. On the way home, it blew a head gasket so this whole summer has gone to an...
  16. It wasn't a Maverick but the Mercury version

This one is mine (68 Cougar XR-7 GT): Back in the mid-70's, I was working as a driving instructor in San Diego and my training car was a 1974 Mercury Comet.
  17. Dealership Warning

I just bought a CPO 2022 Mini S convertible from a Mini dealership. It's the first time I've seen anyone use a tablet with electronic signatures for all the paperwork. The difference is that the finance manager printed out all the documents and walked us through them before asking for...
  18. Say you had the cash to buy a Maverick outright and not have to make payments.

On my most recent purchase, I told the dealer I was going to pay cash unless there was something in it for me to let them finance. They knocked $500 off the price, so I went with it. We'll pay it off before the first payment is due.
  19. White Smoke out of my exhaust on my 24 Mav EB

When our '68 Cougar blew a head gasket, the white smoke was much heavier than that. That looks like normal warm-up exhaust to me.
