What about when all the gas stations run out of gas before a hurricane? Is that better?
The complete failure of Texas' grid leading to deaths - that wasn't due to EV/wind/solar.
But feel free to tout how bad CA is and how all the other states are better - we'll send people your way, but then...
Used to what? We have solar and overproduce currently. Plug-in Prius gets $0/mi on electric.
Our heat pumps are super efficient at heating and cooling too (not much needed, as we're near the coast).
This article is click-bait fearmongering with an agenda. Don't consider it "news", but more...
Picking up my XL today - I hope I get motivated enough to make a cool setup like this, but might get lazy and end up with some battery powered magnet light or something. At least until I find some free time...!
Thanks for putting in the effort and posting the info and inspiration!
You're pretty much spot on.
It works for certain drivers/owners and use/location, etc.
$5/gal gas. Home solar. EV tax credit to offset increase price of PHEV.
All those can make the PHEV cheaper or not.
I wholeheartedly agree. I wish that we would have required (i.e. gov mandate) that hybrids were more widespread to provide a bridge to EV adoption. Hybrids use much less batteries, the Ford/Toyota design is very simple and reliable, and provide a great increase to mpg, cutting fuel use/demand...
years ago on BITOG (bob is the oil guy) forums, I remember reading a post from a tire expert - he said that H speed rated tires required nylon cap plies to meet the speed rating and implied a more robust tire. So for passenger vehicles, even if you don't need the extra speed, for the same price...
Ouch. What a dig.
Everyone wants to live here and our weather is good enough to even live in a tent!
If it was on the back of a Maverick you'd love it :D

General Motors - not General Engines. They've wanted to build EVs all along!
Great point - owning a new vehicle for that long is another great way to extract the best value. I really wanted ACC, but after dealer messed up my '23 Lariat order and didn't add CP360 Assist to get it, I settled on a "cheap" XL and hope I won't miss ACC too much...
Take advantage of Costco sales and Mobil 1 (or Pennzoil, etc) rebates!!!

Also, use a site like Rakuten (see sig link) for other ways to save even more with cashback deals. I used to load up on synthetic oil when it was free after rebate (BITOG days...
VMFXX pays 5.30% :)
This is a forum for a truck that has only existed for a couple years. I would hope that most people have money to afford a new vehicle and are not stretching themselves b/c they "want" vs "need" a new truck. I could afford the loaded Lariat, but I don't want to spend that...
Ah, holy carp - you mean on the exhaust! Hadn't heard of GPFs before, only DPFs.
Well, at least if it is emissions-related it is covered by a long warranty in Cali and all other states that follow our standards.
