I'm cool with chrome - our new ADU has chrome for all plumbing fixtures - easier to clean AND cheaper to buy = win, win!
Not a fan of 20's though. I just see worse ride, and more expensive tires that wear out quicker. (see above - I like cheaper and lower maintenance, I guess!)
Sounds like FUD to me, but I'll be getting my hybrid soon and not be worried.
I remember the tiny in-line fuel filters on my old SU carb'd Volvo. $2 to change - never made a difference in how badly it ran.
Yes, "hi" - although I got banned from BH for posting comments that were perceived as critical of the rich people problems threads, I guess lol
Definitely recognized your username 🍻
Back when rates were super low, I told my wife "I read on Bogleheads that a 30 year mortgage at today's rates...
We max out our 457 (gov 401k), Roths and an HSA. Happy to sit on our 30 year mortgage at 2.5% for another 28 years - no rush to pay that off!
If your mortgage rate is under 5%, I'd say don't bother and invest the money in retirement accounts instead (do you have access to a 401k?). You get a tax...
Monthly payment questions are useless. Term + rate.
I could say $1 or $2,000 - that doesn't tell you a darn thing.
And you can hate me, but I don't mind the schadenfreude of watching people surprised by the payments of 7%+ interest rates when their Mav finally came in -those people are much...
I do wish we had an AWD PHEV of the Maverick. Not sure I could overcome my cheapness, though, for what that would cost. $35k - I could do. $40k + like the Escape and Rav PHEVs - nah.
Driving around locally on EV is awesome, plus we have solar. Our Prius Prime (2021) was rated 25 EV miles, but...
Make sure you claim the $3750 Federal Tax Credit and check for any state/local/utility rebates and credits.
I had ordered a 2022 Escape PHEV in Jan of 2022. Never got built until this year as a 2023 - which means that it was no longer the deal I wanted. No base SE model anymore - all higher...
Cheaper to cast to a separate phone or tablet and then you can view both front and rear cameras at same time also.
Just seems like one of those - "hey check out this gadget" and "they don't want you to watch youtube on your car screen, but I can b/c of this sweet thing I bought" - but not...
I've been reading about the whole "your fuel pump will die" bit for many years. Never had it happen or known anyone for that fact.
There's scientific evidence of poor health outcomes linked to high fat diets.
I've yet to see a study of fuel pump life and refueling level. I don't care what some...
Been driving ~26 years, routinely run all my vehicles to the low fuel light / 0 miles to empty even - never replaced a single fuel pump, with plenty of high mile vehicles.
That is rough. I would start shopping around on rates
https://www.navyfederal.org/loans-cards/auto-loans/auto-rates.html#rates
and take out a shorter loan. Have you run the numbers on your interest cost?
That's like $7k + and ends up adding around 25% to the vehicle cost! Ouch.
Which do you care more about?
1 - mpg and saving gas money
2 - the "look" of wheels and tires?
I buy tires for how they work, not look - so I can't help ya out on this decision.
