  1. Oh deer 🦌

Tough to see that. Hitting a large animal can incur lots of damage. Imagine a cow. i lived, work in Saudi Arabia. Many reports of vehicles, traveling at nite, hitting camels. Road from Damman to Kuwait border A 4 lane. Many drive fast. And many killed when animal peels roofline back, comes...
  2. Removing dealership decal without paint damage?

Every vehicle I own the decals come off. They not paying me to advertise.
  3. Hail in the forecast - Any strategy suggestions?

Had recent hail possibilities warnings in last few weeks. What to do I ask? Even tho we have 2 car garage, my side is full of tools, woodworking stuff. Wife can park her Escape other side. Last big storm, made wife pull hers in garage as far can go, I pulled behind hers. We have an angled...
  4. Something unusual happened with AC

Today I drove the truck for short drive to get lunch. Turn off the auto S/S switch. Drove short drive, all AC controls lights bright. Stopped to pick lunch. Got back in, started up, hit the auto S/S switch, and AC worked fine. I once noticed at a stop light with auto S/S on, engine did stop as...
  5. Something unusual happened with AC

Yea, lights went off, like the power cut off to AC switch module.
  6. Something unusual happened with AC

I’m hoping so! Meanwhile the AC working ok after this event.
  7. Something unusual happened with AC

My thoughts too. Truck has ~1,800 miles, wouldn’t expect this to happen. Also, after this happened at a traffic light, driving after this the AC worked well as it should…cooling, blower running, all lights lit up. Guess I have to monitor this next few times I start up, drive it. I will also...
  8. Something unusual happened with AC

Understand engine stops if selected auto stop/start. But it wasn’t, didn’t stop. To be clear, no blower, no cold air. After pushing buttons to ascertain what’s happening, it finally returned. The fan knob segmented lights went off, all of them.
  9. Something unusual happened with AC

No. The blower stopped, and even if engine stop, wouldn’t think it stop blowing air.
  10. Something unusual happened with AC

Thanks, kinda what I did. I’m wondering how and why this happened.
  11. Something unusual happened with AC

Just started the truck, warm day, AC on, blower on 3rd notch, drove maybe 2 miles, sitting at stoplight, the AC blower suddenly quit. WTH? Noticed the lights on 3 buttons off…the AC button, the recirculate button, and other beside it. Baffled, I hit off button. Then hit AC button. Nothing. Turn...
  12. Oil drain valve installation: EZ-107 drain valve & A-107 - success!

Imagine a surprised Ford tech/mechanic doing this oil drain. No tool required.
  13. Perfect use for slot next to rear seat - small umbrella

My umbrella not small like these, it’s a full size one. For that spot I store an Orange PEP vest In case need to get out on road for some chore. I pick up trash at our subdivision esplanade where people throw trash at the stoplight. Trying to be a maverick, good deed here.
  14. Very impressed with my 2024 Maverick EcoBoost AWD 4K towing a trailer

Not to mention towing, can haul too. Think the rate haul load is 1.500#, in the bed. I haul 2 loads of garden dirt, and a load of river rocks for wife’s garden. Although short hauls, truck did well! As for me unloading, wheelbarrowing dirt and rocks to new garden planters, didn’t do so well...
  15. New Mobile oil for hybrid šŸ˜Ž

Careful. Don’t. I’m not exactly a turbine expert, but know a few things about them when I did some servicing of small turbines on oil n gas production platforms in Gulf of Mexico, they driving high speed water injection pumps, compressors, etc. Jet engine oil, from what I learned normally class...
  16. A mechanic’s opinion of our Mav.

I see some talking flatheads. Rebuilt one Flathead. Never again. Hated setting valve gap. Had to grind valve stem tips to get good gap. If grind stem too much, had to grind valve seats to close the gap. No real adjustments setup for these valves.
  17. 2024 Lariat what's missing in this picture

That looks easy to service. At least there isn’t a screw there. My wife’s Escape filter is a royal pain to access. And there’s a screw there holding the cover on. Drop that screw, bye bye, !!!, it disappears into the valley of the console frame. And getting that new filter in not easy.
  18. Green oil

Oh my bad. Yep, you right. Honed would be better word, that reveals crosshatching. My 77 yo brain misfiring. When rebuilding engines, if piston to cylinder wall clearance was sloppy, we would ā€œknurlā€œ the skirt of pistons using special knurling tool on a lathe to close that gap, to prevent...
  19. Towing the boat with my Maverick EcoBoost

When I’m towing, would be guessing what gear that 8 spd transmission is in. In my old F250 dash displays what gear I’m in. Also, what is transmission fluid temperature?
