Questioning under the hood observation.
My new Maverick might be missing an over the top engine cover. Not sure if any Maverick comes with them. What I see is the very top of the engine, and what appears as brass nut inserts (see picture, highlights) in the plastic engine cover on the head...
Cool! Like it.
A plus not mentioned is the plastizer vapors released by hot heat of the sun, released to windshield, creating a thin cloudy film. This film increases the glare, impairs vision during the day. Iām nit crazy about ālaying a rugā in the dash, but nit want to fight the cloudy film...

I found only 1 in under the seat storage bin. Asked salesman whatās that forā¦he not know. But after I pulled the cover marked 12VDC, and the connector, realized it the jumper to use 12 vdc somewhere, somehow. And learned about it here, on this forum. It just keeps getting better!
And I wonder...
Our Escape had Michelin as OEM. Not last long, got noisy as worn down. Got Continental and they better tires, so far, in terms of handling, quieter. These typically found on Mercedes, BMWs and other higher class vehicles.
My XLT came with it, it was all I could find, new arrival on dealership lot. As soon as I found it there, took off in my 2011 F250 XLT diesel, traded it. Lucky. I had rejected another Maverick XLT Tremer, because of 4 wheel drive. Not wanted 4x4, but had to bite bullet, get this one or none. And...
I spoke to the shop mgr doing the spray job. He said they do lots of Mavericks, and not install screws or bolts. I said I disagree. He said they are used cleaned out when screwing in bolts. I said better to use a tap instead of bolts. Anyway i havenāt decided on any rails yet. But if I do, Iāll...

From what Iām seeing, in the bed there are threaded holes on inside of bed, to support latching/hooking bars. Iāve seen reports of the threads are M6 or M8 metric size. But which is it the correct size? I am hoping to have spray liner shop to...
LoL. Probably right. My 2nd day with this new to me XLT, reading manual. My wife got in it, was loading her cell phone info into it, and started pushing buttons. Suddenly, lost the digital speed readout on the dash display panel. Trying to get it back. Read, re-read the manual. No use. So I...
Iām 76, just joined this forum with new Maverick, XLT, AWD, 2.0 with tow package.
Drove a 2011 Ford SD diesel towing a fifth wheel RV. Had 91,135 miles on this 12 yo SD. Sold the RV, traded truck for this mid-sized truckā¦basically downsized. Day 2, learning the controls, bells n whistles on...
