Ya, I'm still running the crap Ford battery in my hybrid. I consider myself lucky, especially since I had a draw from a dealer installed alarm that killed my battery overnight 4 times.
That thing has got to be on it's last leg.
I'll replace it with a small AGM when the time comes. (probably...
when the truck tells me too :) I'm at 5k and still waiting. Looks like it's going to be right at one year for me. I'm guessing Ford likes 1 year or around 10k, whichever comes first.
Only use full syn oil for these schedules.
I don't know that this loss of power thing is a thing with one cause. It seems to me it a lot of problems could cause the truck to go into a limp in mode kind of thing. It's the trucks way of trying to save itself and the driver.
Of course causing it to accelerate by itself isn't helping, I get...
This looks like the truck is charging just fine, assuming the spikes are when you are driving and I'm sure they are.
Looks to me like your battery won't charge and it's not the trucks fault. The truck is giving it 15 volts like it should with a low battery. The problem is the battery is always...
you will need a power and ground, then run a sensor wire under the hood. back in the day the wire would go to the coil. I bet there are other ways to do it now. A little googling would tell.
Don't forget anything hybrid related is covered much longer than 3/36. I don't remember how long but you can look it up.
So the B to B expiring I don't see as a big issue. You still have powertrain.
Also, check the book for anything emission related, lots of states require a good long warranty...
I bet it's all (or at least mostly) because it's cheaper than a real cap.
Then when it fails you get to buy a whole new fill tube from Ford.
A win-win for them......
realistically there is nothing you should or could do. If this truck is under warranty and you mess with anything to try and disable the warning you are on your own.
The truck is doing what it's supposed to do, warn you there is a problem.
Too bad Ford doesn't have parts for our trucks, that...
I'm thinking Ford can deny any warranty they want for any reason. Then YOU would have to make them pay though a court of law. Of course this would be a major PITA and not very cheap.
So....Don't mess with it if you are worried about it.
