In Tennessee, starting next year at registration renewal, hybrid = +$100, EV= +$200. I agree that it’s not exactly fair to make everyone pay the same regardless of mileage, but since Tennessee doesn’t have state inspections, there’s no easy way to verify mileage.
I wish it would happen, but I don’t think it will. I think it’s a lot harder to make this kind of change in a unibody than on a body-over-frame like the Ranger.

The only problem I see with your plan is that the more companies that jump into this segment, the lower the used market will be. The reason the Maverick resale market is so high now is the lack of competition in the segment.
