  1. Friendly reminder of the negatively skewed perspectives on internet forums

Hey Joe, did you actually receive your Maverick? Asking because your signature says you finally received it, but your profile says you've got a Tucson.
  2. So, someone explain this…

Find one for sale at CarMax or Carvana, and go test drive it. Yeah, it will be a "used" one, but they don't sit or drive any different than a new one...
  3. CYBER ORANGE Maverick Photos Thread

My build is the same as yours, without the moon roof. I have one on the '22 Lariat First Edition in Area 51 that I lucked into, and I've basically used it only to see if I would like using it... I think if I lived in a more temperate climate, it might get used more, but here in Texas, there...
  4. Just ordered... Challenger 392

Somewhat ironic, but with the rumors that Dodge will discontinue the Challenger, they appear to be selling briskly, and can actually be fairly hard to find - at least with the trim level she was looking for. We could not locate one within 250 miles of here that matched her specs (regardless of...
  5. Just ordered... Challenger 392

Yeah, I tried to warn her... But at least she bought an extended warranty! (They gave her a decent price on it, much to my surprise!) Edited to add: Her exact response was "But you're buying a Ford, which has the highest recall rate in the industry?" I don't know if that's actually true...
  6. Interesting deal

I've got one on order from a dealer that's a little over 1000 miles from my home - but only 30 miles from my brother's home. The plan is to get some time with my brother when I go pick it up, then drive some fun back roads all the way home. I should be able to write a real good report on that...
  7. Why is the Hybrid 2.5L

Not a young person here (and driven plenty of tractors myself), but... I believe it's also true that your Allis Chalmers D-17 tractor had a top "ground speed" (in "high" range, no less) of 11.9 mph, versus the Maverick's "governed" 108-110 mph. The old saying "torque for work, horsepower for...
  8. Interesting deal

Let us know how it goes.
  9. Deep sleep mode alert

While driving, that display is showing that your battery is receiving a 15V charge from the system. You're not reading the actual voltage provided by the battery. Even in "normal" ICE vehicles, that would be the alternator current that is charging the battery... But in the hybrid, there is no...
  10. Why did you choose the hybrid?

Yep, the Trip Summary displays when you shut off the vehicle, and basically stays there until you open the door (or your passenger does). Easy to grab a snapshot after you park. I usually have my phone in hand by that time anyway... Grabbed this one several days ago:
  11. Just ordered... Challenger 392

My daughter had dreamed for years of owning a Challenger. So after getting a new job (with correspondingly higher salary), she decided she was selling her clapped-out, 12 year old Hyundai Santa Fe and getting a Challenger! We spent a full day (Aug 20th, 2022) running around all over South...
  12. Hydroplaning Hybrid vs AWD EcoBoost?

You should re-read @OrangeBlue's explanation (post #28 in this thread)... I see literally dozens of crashes every year caused by drivers of Pickups and SUVs who believe that their AWD/4WD somehow increases their traction in wet / slippery conditions. There were six vehicles that went off the...
  13. Deep sleep messages - dealer ‘fix’

I've read elsewhere that if you connect something "directly to the battery" on the hybrid, you could be bypassing the battery management system, so it doesn't know about that load, and won't compensate correctly for it. Over time, that could slowly lower the battery's state of charge to the...
  14. Help talk me into a Maverick?

I have a hybrid, and I love it. It's great for urban driving on mostly city streets, which is mostly what I do. Gas mileage is best in 25-45 mph stop-and-go driving. The average drops quickly when you drive on the highway. In my first 2000 miles, I've driven about 1250 highway miles, and my...
  15. How many Hybrid owners kicking the crap out of the EPA figures?

Thank you for that post! I thought it was just me being dense... Hard to decipher.
  16. Runaway Cruise Control!! (Or maybe an old dog that doesn’t know the new tricks!)

Unless others (like me) who joined the MTC site later on are going back through those old threads and finding misinformation. It helps me when I see misinformation corrected, and I assume it will help others in the future. Sorry if I ruffled your feathers - that wasn't the intent.
  17. Miracles happen

I'm reminded of the old saying "A Maverick in the garage is worth two in the order books..." I also chose to pay some ADM in order to get a '22 Lariat FE (Area 51, my 2nd choice color) that someone else rejected. Part of the reasoning was that I seriously doubt that my wife and I will both...
  18. Top speed run number ? ... No lecturing / judging ...

I 'know a guy' who got a then-new early 80's Ford Taurus SHO up to the governed max speed of 142 mph on a closed section of highway... It was still pulling hard right up to that point, then just stopped accelerating. A lot like the video posted above (only at higher speed). Rock solid at that...
  19. Adaptive Cruise Control First time FAIL...

Amen to that! It seems to arrive a bit "late to the party" and doesn't feel like it's braking hard early enough... I'd rather over-brake early in the cycle, then back off a bit towards the end... The programmed response seems to be 180º out of phase with my preferences!
  20. Adaptive Cruise Control First time FAIL...

On a separate note... I find that even when I set the "following distance" to the largest possible interval, the Maverick tends to brake a lot later (thus requiring a lot more braking action) than is comfortable for me... It seems OK when traffic is moving, and I'm coming up behind another...
