Well, the Hybrid doesn't just "idle" the engine - ever. If the ICE is on, it's either providing traction drive, or (most likely what you're experiencing) it's running to recharge the HVB. It takes a bit more than "idle" RPM to turn what is effectively a fairly powerful generator.
Does anyone know what "Neutral Tow Mode" actually entails? By that I do NOT mean how to get into it - the manual covers that quite well, but rather what is actually does? (For instance, is it supposed enable the DC-DC converter to keep the 12V battery recharged? What does it actually do...
And apparently well enough that even if you do shift into "R" while driving 70 mph, there is no harm done, because the onboard computer is smart enough to NOT accept that shift. (One-sentence summary of an entire thread elsewhere on MTC. And no, it wasn't me...)
My early Prius (last car before the Maverick Hybrid) had a little stick that would go from D to L to N without any "pull" or "push" of a button. It did require a button press to go into R, but that's nit-picking... The round dial shifter didn't actually go into R either... It has an...
I bought a used car in El Paso a few years ago, and got some "shady" vibes from the seller. I took the car (along with my new bill of sale) to my local PD branch, explained that I had just bought the car, and asked if their drug-sniffing dog could use a training session by checking the car for...
I'm curious about how many of the folks who are so terrified of the round dial selector on the center console (which must be turned to change gears) are equally terrified when driving one of the many cars that have an in-line selector on the center console?
After all, you could just...
Yeah, I thought I would miss having a CD player as well - until I realized I can fit every CD I own on a single tiny USB-C Thumb Drive (like this one from Samsung that costs only $33). I copied all my music to that drive, and now I've got over 2500 songs available in my Maverick. I can pick an...
I have the Meross unit, so I can just say "Hey, Siri, open the garage door," and it opens. It not only works with my phone (Apple Car Play) in the car, but it works with my Apple Watch when we're out walking and the phones are at home. I liked it so much that we gave one to our son-in-law.
I...
I'm 5'10" and with the front seat adjusted for my maximum comfort, I can get out and sit in the back seat without being cramped.
PS - in EVERY other vehicle I've ever owned, I've driven with the seat pushed all the way back. In the Maverick, if I do that, I can't reach the floe by the...
Great handling, room for 5, and a place to haul their luggage: Corvette only checks 1/3 boxes, so it's NOT a car...
Sounds pretty ridiculous, doesn't it? Well, that's what YOUR list sounded like to me when I read it... Off-road? Jeeps do that SO much better than any truck. Off-roading is a...
The manual calls for 87 octane or higher, so I would not run anything below 87 octane - period. It's the folks claiming that 91 octane is required for the Ecoboost (even if they concede that 87 is OK for the hybrid) that get under my skin... There is one section in the Owner's Manual that...
Look, I love hearing an engine rev as much as anyone. I rode Honda and Yamaha motorcycles that revved to almost 10,000 RPM and it was fun and exciting to ride them... That said, your profile shows you own a Hybrid, and from what others on this forum (who have instrumented their Mavericks to...
I can lower or lift it with just one finger. (I'm sure you're impressed by that... Not.) But my wife is not as "mighty" (he snickers) as I am, especially when she's holding something (like a flower pot) in one hand and opening the tailgate with the other. Having it lower smoothly instead of...
Yep - that's exactly what I found. Truth is that I probably was trying to keep the truck "centered" about 6-12 inches left of absolute center (because I'm used to driving a Chevy 2500HD that is WAY bigger than the Mac), and was fighting with the lane keeping system. Once my "sight picture" got...
