Since no one has responded on this, I'll take a stab at it. Keep in mind that I'm NOT an expert - I just read a lot.
There is a huge difference between how the 12V battery is used on the Maverick Hybrid and on "regular" vehicles. Installing a cut-off switch on a regular car causes issues...
There was an article published a while back about a fleet of Escape hybrids used as NY Taxicabs. They drove the heck out of them, and IIRC got something like 400,000 miles out of those taxicabs. The Maverick uses basically the same drivetrain with slight changes, but it's a well proven design...
I said something like this around my daughter's family the other day, and my 7th-grade granddaughter looked at me, quite puzzled, and asked "What's a CD player?" She's never seen one in her entire life.
Geesh, I"m old!
In September of 2022, Ford told the dealers that COVP was "encouraged" but that it was no longer being required for orders placed for the 2023 model year. This recent announcement that only COVP orders would be kept in the system after early June is a 180º course reversal on that issue. The...
Exactly. You can "dilute" the 18% of "non-nitrogen" by deflating and refilling multiple times, but you're never going to have "pure" nitrogen in that tire.
Dang it, I forgot to take the picture before I refueled (long line at Costco)... But I put 12.9 gallons in it, and the "real" mpg was 48.0. That's about 80% city and 20% highway driving, same as the previous tank of gas, where I averaged "only" 42.8 mpg – before I understood how to use...
But why go into the "color-specific" portion of MTC just to make that comment? You just HAVE to express your dislike of EVERY color that's not your first choice? I just don't understand the thought process that drives the behavior...
I can attest to that... I had my SHO up to 143 mph (on a closed road) and hit the speed limiter.... It was still accelerating nicely when the "nanny" cut in.
I'm curious about why - since you clearly don't care for the Cyber Orange color - you are reading and responding to posts in the Cyber Orange Maverick Club thread? Why rain on our parade with your commentary on our color choice? Frankly, I can't fathom why you would care enough to bother...
I love convertibles, and have owned many of them. But my experience with moonroofs has been, well, shall we say "Not so great." The Maverick First Edition Hybrid I purchases last November came with all the FE "stuff" including the moonroof.
First of all, I was quite surprised by the fact...
Kroger takes orders for future delivery where you guys are? Around here, they don't even take "same day" pickup orders... But hey, they DO follow Ford's example by making up for the poor customer service with higher prices... 🤣
There is no "second COVP"... If your dealer complied with the COVP process when you ordered your Maverick, you should be just fine.
It's the dealers who said "Ford isn't requiring COVP - it's just "recommended" - so I'm not going to do it" that are now having to hurry up and get it done now...
I washed my Prius during a really strong rainstorm - I drove back and forth through the water running off the downspout of a large industrial building... (The security guard watching through the door was laughing his ass off!) But that Prius had all kinds of hail damage before I bought it, so...
Love what you've done to customize your truck. Very cool!
But I'm pretty sure your tailgate strut is installed upside down. The "rod" part is supposed to point "down" so that the seal remains coated by the lubricants inside the struts. It keeps the seals from drying out, and they will last...
The Maverick coasts just fine - as long as you put it in "Slippery" mode, which is the best mode for optimizing in-town driving anyway. Lots of threads on this elsewhere, so I won't reiterate all that information. But Slippery mode reduces the severity of regen events, allowing you to coast...
What is this "washing" thing you discuss here? My wife used to have a gunmetal gray truck that was constantly dirty... She called it "the protective coating for the paint."
My Area 51 Maverick seems to send any dirt that lands on it off to some other planet... It hardly ever looks dirty...
There is a setting for boosting the sound as speed increases, but I haven't found it to be very effective. My wife's Impala has that and it works perfectly. The Mav's is a bit less of a boost, I think.
No "standard" way to turn on rear camera while driving forward. But honestly, having the back window blocked is no worse than it would be when towing a trailer. Use your side view mirrors, like you would when trailering.
