Folks periodically get lost in the Great Smokies and never make it out, sometime never to be found. This is the most visited national park. Never hurts to be prepared.
The only vehicle that ever stranded me was the Maverick Hybrid, with the potential for more events had I not mitigated it with a jump start device. The Noco GB40 has my endorsement.
The early marketing for the Maverick emphasized it as a "maker's vehicle", which I think it is the contemporary term for a creative hobbyist.
The FITs slots, allowing for 3D-printed accessories, the bed features providing for homebuilt accessories, and the 12V pigtail were intended to easily...
I just got to this thread, that's very impressive work!
As a very early Maverick owner, I did a few projects with the audio and such, but this is the real deal. I like your methodology - the careful planning, use of mock-ups for confirming fit, and the attention to detail from start to...
Yeah, and fan(boys) are typically blind to the product's shortcoming as they sling that money. The perfect customer, they'll defend their purchase stranded on the side of the road if given the chance.
I too, enjoyed the fuel economy of the hybrid, however I am near certain that I would still own a Maverick had I chosen one of the 4x4 EcoBoost versions.
Several threads of Maverick owners waiting months for warranty/repair parts while Hermosillo breaks production records each month. While some have explained it as "just the way it is" regarding parts inventory allocation and such, it sucks for the vehicle owner. If new production parts...
My sales experience was great, no hassle, MSRP minus Farm Bureau discount. No pressure to finance or purchase extended warranty, although it was offered.
My service experience at multiple Ford dealerships was pathetic. Incompetence and not prepared to deal with the issues.
There was a deputy killed last year on I-75 retrieving a ladder that flew out of a truck. He got hit by a semi. They passed a law regarding securing your load in trucks and trailers.
'Sergeant Chris Jenkins Law' signed by Gov. Bill Lee
Specifically, the law makes it a Class C Misdemeanor to...
My hybrid had an anti-theft feature of two-factor authentication (something you know + something you have).
You had to have the physical key as the harness issue prevented the doors from unlocking via the fob, then you had to have the Noco (or similar) jumpbox to power-up the hybrid via the...
Dead Hybrids, 2024 models. These "no-start" problems were written off previously as "first model year" issues, the 2023's being significantly better, and the 2024's near trouble-free.
This isn't a workmanship issue, it is a design issue. The 12V battery may be to blame, but specifications and...
Congratulations on winning that lottery! I am sincerely glad to hear it went that way for you. I fought that issue for six months, relying on a Noco to wake the thing up.
The Maverick's screen lacks the contrast and saturation that my other vehicle's screens have. Just part of the economics, like the smaller screen/cubby. While noticeable, I never found it bothersome.
Subscription service model is the biggest turnoff ever, at least to many I know. The mindset and justification will be "everybody's doing it". If that's the case, I'll buy clean late model (pre-subscription) vehicles as long as possible.
I had my Maverick through multiple seasons and did not notice any stickiness to the plastics, but I owned it less than 18 months. That said, I had an older Escape that exhibited this stickiness, and the dealerships attributed it to the then newly-released soy based plastics by Ford.
While I...
