I'm not a mechanical engineer and work with computers for a living. But honestly, I don't know how a few millimeters of tread difference will matter on a wheel that is 18 inches wide.
There was an episode of Dirty Jobs where a guy was mixing leftover paint and then selling it. The resulting color was close to what manufacturers use as a shade of grey. Hence my "leftover paint" moniker for them.
Keep in mind that factory tires have a lower tread than tires you get aftermarket. So, your 7,500 factory miles might be closer to 12,000 on new tires.
My theory is they want to introduce a greenish version of grey and need the leftover eruption green paint.

Give it a few weeks. Depending on if they can go straight to Ohio or need to got through a couple hubs, it'll take some time for the train to get there. Then your dealership has to contract a carrier to ship it from the rail yard and that might take time as carriers like to be full both...
