For the first time, our Maverick got better fuel economy than the wife's Corolla. This 8.3 liters/100 kms indicated, hand calculated out to 8.65 actual, pretty decent IMO considering that's combined city/hwy in winter conditions. That's 27.2 mpg US. The Corolla got 8.8, but was more city driving.
After -20C to -30C temperatures, for weeks (months!?) on end, a -5C day with little or no wind, and strong sunshine feels pretty good! The Rottie is pretty tough, loves to lay in the snow soaking up the suns heat. This was a long tough winter, even by our standards. Driving in the city...
Curling... not a fan myself, but I enjoy watching golf, probably also pretty boring for lots of folks. Off topic thread hijack - I love poutine, but yet another fine uniquely Canadian food - Hawaiian pizza!
Ford in a way still is in the small car game with the 1.5 liter ecoBoost 3 cylinder...
Up here in Canuckland, particularly in the western prairie provinces where agriculture is predominant in rural areas, lots of trucks. Gas used to be cheap, and big full size trucks are everywhere. Our regular gas is currently $1.74/liter and premium $1.92. That's pretty strong incentive to...
I think that article is really more about the shift away from small fuel efficient cars, than it is about the Maverick.
It really doesn't make sense, automobile manufacturers moving away from offering little cars. Toyota and Honda in particular no longer offering the Yaris & Fit for example...
The irony... after posting earlier in this thread "not much snow here yet", we got 2nd most snowfall on record this winter, lots of blizzards, drifting snow. Here's what a heavy duty Manitoba winter looks like. The Maverick has performed admirably throughout - very impressed by the AWD...
Got my "backordered" tailgate liner in, picked it up at the dealer, got 'er installed. Very quick and easy installation. Torx 25 required to remove the 8 factory installed fasteners, Torx 20 required to install the supplied fasteners. This is money well spent IMO:
The instructions aren't...
I'd imagine wherever Tesla has set up shop, is where Ford Model E centers could likewise open up:

IMO the dealer franchise system is broken, has certainly lost my trust. I've had a few service advisors try to pull some stuff that really...
I'm all for bypassing stealerships, ordering a vehicle, guaranteed MSRP pricing, no upselling or price gouging:

I had a good dealership experience, bought mine at MSRP. I feel for those still waiting, and those getting gouged when their Maverick...
It seems some folks really don't get all the hints. If you don't believe it, Google it. This has been brought up in lots of vehicle forum discussions. I have no opinion. Well, I do, but you're not allowed to have one anymore it seems without someone calling you bad names.
I've been getting 30 to 35 mpg Imp. Am coming up on 5 months, and while fuel economy has taken a hit in winter, am still usually seeing around 30 mpg - pretty good considering the cold winter driving conditions. Given that the window sticker highway fuel economy rating is 8.1 liters/100 kms...
Must be a few guys here that have ordered and installed the plastic tailgate liner - how do you like it? How was the install & fit?
I ordered that yesterday, put a $20 deposit down as it's backordered, no idea if and when I get it. I like to do the tailgate cooking thing, want to protect...
Spot on. I notice the hood flexing as I drive, particularly on rough gravel. I find all the sheet metal pretty thin - wish it wasn't. Our newish ('20) Corolla is same, can't put any weight on the hood, or roof without risking denting.
I have stock size rubber on my XLT, see the average fuel economy indication routinely be optimistic by anywhere from .5 liter/100 kms to over 1. I'm generally getting 30 to 35 mpg (Imp), a bit less at times with winter driving.
Dunno Mike. I came from a gas hog Nissan Frontier with the offroad package. I bought it with K02s mounted. I was so desperate to see if I could improve the fuel economy that I bought a set of used steel rims, installed a set of 65 series car tires, was amazed by the improvement in fuel...
According to this stock XL trim tire size is 225/65R17:
https://media.ford.com/content/dam/fordmedia/North America/US/product/2022/maverick/pdf/2022-Ford-Maverick-Technical-Specifications.pdf
... and 235/65R17 is optional.
If going from 225 to 245 the jump in diameter is 1" and difference in...
A couple of thoughts regarding the issue...
- larger tires = greater rolling circumference, so actual distance traveled will be more than indicated;
- that change to the diameter & circumference will affect the indicated fuel economy, which I find to be optimistic anyways;
- driving style...
