Unless linkage failure is the problem. Happened to my old Chevy Trailblazer and caused me quite a headache. If it had a rotary shifter and a manual release like this it would have been a piece of cake. 🍰
Although....come to think of it, there would've been no linkage to fail in the first place...
I've never noticed that with my Maverick, but it was a regular issue with the Chevy Trailblazer I traded in for it. In that case, turning the entire climate control system off and then back on cured it. Like rebooting a computer it seemed to clear the cobwebs.
I think there probably are practical benefits for people who don't (or don't want to...) concern themselves with the nuances of everyday driving. Of course all that careful programming can also be defeated by a lead foot. Just depends on the driver and the effort he or she is willing to put into it.
Except that Eco mode doesn't seem to make much of a difference as near as I can tell. At least for me anyway. It seems to use throttle response try to "force" you into better habits...but if you already have sensible habits, it doesn't really change anything. I get about the same mileage either...
The problem pretty much disappeared for me a couple of months ago in all modes, but until then eco mode always made it go away. No question about it. No idea why it finally went away completely. Maybe it broke in or something.
By sheer coincidence, that actually happened to me this morning when backing into my parking space at work. First time in the six months I've owned my truck. Still trying to figure out why my hand did that. I just hope it's not gonna make a habit of it. 😉
Well since the Edge was only temporary, I didn't fiddle with the drive modes at all, so I assume it was in Normal, and all in ordinary stop and go traffic. I did experiment briefly with the paddle shifters out of curiosity, but couldn't really make heads or tails of it. 🤔 Just as well, cause...
I had my doubts going in, but I've come to like the rotary shifter very much. And unlike many here, I even like the way it spins freely. I had to take the Maverick in for a paint repair a month after taking delivery (transit damage...), and the Edge the dealer provided as a loaner had the rotary...
Yep, that's the case with mine too. You know, I think there's a bit of conflation going on in these posts between the "Clunking/Grabbing" issue, and the general unevenness of the low speed regen/friction brake transitions. I can see how owners who've only experienced the latter could easily...
Congratulations on your purchase! The lack of communication from Ford was frustrating for me too, but I'm glad you stuck to your guns. It really is a great little truck and totally worth the wait in my opinion.
Right with you on that FITs business. I put the little wastebasket in back just...
Not saying it isn't an issue by any means, but it is apparently highly variable from vehicle to vehicle. For instance, I drive in the same bumper to bumper stop and go traffic you describe on a daily basis, and it has only happened to me maybe a half a dozen times in the six months I've owned my...
I certainly don't think it's right. Mine absolutely works with or without cruise turned on. I don't know of any setting that might effect it....but then it's all pretty new to me too.
I leave the auto climate control set at 70-75 degrees at all times, so the heat was on pretty much all the time during February thru April. And at fill up I've always had enough left to make it to at least 600 miles. Calculated manually, I get 42-44 MPG in complete comfort.
I got the co-pilot option under the mistaken impression that it included adaptive cruise control. I'm usually pretty detail oriented, but I dropped the ball on that one. 😣
Nevertheless, I'm now glad I got it, as the blind spot monitoring and cross traffic alerts have proven useful. Not so keen...
I hauled about 1000 Lbs of gravel a few weeks ago, and found the fake shifting so annoying that I switched to normal mode to see how it managed. It seemed perfectly fine, and took me across town, up and down hills, and along a stretch of interstate with complete composure. For that reason I...
I gotta say, I don't find the ride to be harsh at all. In fact, the smooth ride was a pleasant surprise for me. There are several rough patches on my drive to work that I always hated going over in my previous car, one of them being on an uphill curve that was particularly annoying....and the...
