I can confirm this, as I'm not too terribly comfy with mine having been In Production for a full month now. Dunno that I'd necessarily say panic, as I think quality is gonna be a roll of the dice for all of us, but it's not comforting, lol. If I do still go through with the purchase though...
If the extra price and overall size of the Tacoma don't deter you, this sounds like an absolute no brainer, get the Tacoma or maybe consider a Ranger?
And that's coming from someone whose last 4 new vehicle purchases have been Escapes, I've owned 14 Fords over the years, so I'm borderline Ford...
Well, I suppose that at least we're learning something here.
As excited as many of us are for Ford to move towards a direct to consumer model where they cut out the dealer, they are NOWHERE near that point yet. Their tracking/overall electronic update system IS TRASH.
First off, GREAT detailed response!
Also, to emphasize the point above, given the Mavs reputation for not having the best paint, one might have a handful of rock chips/etc to address from just driving it home from the dealership. DEFINTELY gonna be worth it to put in some good prep upfront.
I've seen more than a few folks over on reddit with 10/11 build weeks that were dealing with constant delays, but it seems like most of them got their build emails a while ago. Wondering if anyone else with that build date is still stuck in total limbo like me? My progress so far:
Tracker...
Blend date change does seem odd, my Blend Date has been 10/8 since 10/8.
I think I'm gonna stop looking at the trackers and just go get a tarot reading, I assume they'll be equally accurate.
In my experience, the only things Ford chat is really good for is confirming that your order was placed and killing an hour or two while you're waiting on hold, lol.
I was scheduled for build the week of 10/11 and went into Production on 10/7. My Modules have been active for a week and a half or more but still not done being built.
Tracker shows it's supposed to be delivered to dealer on 11/10, so either they're lying about that OR the current status of my...
In fairness, since they can't ship the hybrids out for weeks anyway, these kind of delays aren't necessarily going to have ANY impact on when one takes delivery like it would with an Ecoboost order right now. Come December? Definitely worth getting a bit peeved about but now? Not so much, IMO.
Wow, you sound like a very charming and fun to be around individual, so I'll give you a tip: There are TONS of sites on the Interwebz for bitching and bellyaching about this kinda stuff but this forum is actually centered around discussing this new truck ford is releasing called the Maverick...
Absolutely the best bet is to find some take offs to buy. In a perfect world, I'd actually get some FX4 takeoffs for mine but since finding those could be tough, I'm looking at aftermarket choices for likely 1/3 to 1/4 the cost of what Ford will want for the wheels separately.
You never know, time may go backwards and defy the laws of physics. For instance, my Oct 11th Production EB is apparently still not shipped, or even built, yet the tracker still says it'll be delivered a week from today.
Anything is possible, right?
I never remember Ford actually coming out and saying that retail orders were gonna get produced first, I just remember it being an unsubstantiated Internet rumor, so it wasn't too surprising when it turned out to be untrue.
Bummer about the build date but it's kinda just the way it goes. My...
The only constraint in my build is the Lariat Luxury package, so maybe that's what's holding it up. I thought that the constraints typically impacted the scheduling and/or actual build week, I didn't think they affected vehicles mid build. Certainly may be wrong about that tho!
