Our last Ranger was a 2011 4x4 (gas hog). Last year of the smaller body. Got the 2.3 over the 2.7 as the '25 2.3 is an upgrade from the '24 2.3 as it has dual port injection. Plenty of power for hauling and towing while still easy on gas. For us we really don't need the extra power as the...
Congrats! Said goodbye to my '23 2.0 Mav and got my '25 Ranger three months ago. Couldn't resist 4K off MSRP. Love it. With the 2.3L engine and 10 speed transmission I'm only one mile less per gallon combined highway and city and two miles per gallon better towing our camper.
Towing capacity. While the Maverick w/4K tow towed our latest camper, It was at maximum for the hitch weight and it had too much squat. Chose the Ranger with the 2.3 engine and 7.5K tow package as I still wanted better gas milage and more towing capacity. '25/'26 Rangers have the newer 2.3 dual...
That's assuming the dealer sells you the correct one, not just what he has on the shelf and there's still manufacturer's that tell you the camper isn't designed for a WDH period.
Not all campers can use a weight distribution hitch safely. It can put undue stress on a camper's frame that the frame isn't designed for when entering parking lots or driveways with steep angles. I've actually seen the tongue of a frame snapped off from using one. It's typically also not...
Tongue weight was a problem for me. I was right at 400+ pounds without carrying fresh water.. Way too much squat with my ecoboost w/4K. Plenty of tow power, just too light in the front. Just traded it for a Ranger w/750 hitch capacity.
Actually I had bought a second set for Winter for the Sport and put Wildpeaks on them. Those went on the Mav at the dealers before I drove the Mav home.
Sold the Bronco Sport because it was towing at it's limit. Got the Mav to tow. Then got a larger camper so the Mav was towing at it's tongue weight limit. Just traded the Mav in for a Ranger. The wife asks if we can get a bigger camper now. 😆...
The 4. (2.3L ecoboost) Will have plenty of power for what I tow. I needed to increase the hitch weight capacity. Maverick squatted too much at 400 pounds.
If the interior sensors detect movement inside your vehicle.
So don't use your FOB to lock the doors if your dogs are in the Mav...
My dogs are in it all the time when I use my FOB to lock it. Alarm's never gone off.
I just have three clips on the cap to the side of the box on each side. Nothing else. Normally it comes with two clips per side but I carry canoes and wanted a little more holding it to the box.
