  1. How-to DIY: change the cabin air filter

Just watch out for cheap/poor quality aftermarket filters, especially if made in China...
  2. How-to DIY: change the cabin air filter

I tried removing the lever by hand but mine was really on there tight. Agree, the Maverick filter is easy, some vehicles as you noted can be quite involved. Cabin filter installation can be a very high profit center for dealers. I have heard of people being charged $100-$200 - and that's for...
  3. How-to DIY: change the cabin air filter

This is a pretty straight forward process but I thought I would post some images and information. 1. Open glovebox and empty the contents. On the right side is the damping lever. Using a trim tool as shown works best as it makes it easy to separate the lever from the mounting post. Push the...
  4. State Fees On PHEV & Full Electric Vehicles

Beginning this month (Sept. 2019), hybrid-vehicle owners in Washington state will start paying an annual $75 car-tab fee to finance electric-car charging stations they’ll never use. The little-known increase is labeled “Hybrid Vehicle Transportation Electrification” on bills from the state...

  8. Cheap auto-dimming, homelink mirror

If it's like mine, black w/white stripe is switched power, Black is constant power. My ground wire had a circular end so it was obvious.
  9. Cheap auto-dimming, homelink mirror

I looked everywhere for a smaller gauge cable but no one seems to make one.
  10. Cheap auto-dimming, homelink mirror

You have to buy 2 of them, $19.99. Hard to find triple harnesses, most are double. I figure I could use the second harness on a future project, or I might just sell it. Link is below. One end of the harness has male ends, the other end female. You'll need end connectors to match - I made...
  11. Cheap auto-dimming, homelink mirror

Just finished installing my auto dim/Homelink mirror today. I got the Kia A7062-ADUP1 (not sure of the differences vs other model numbers as the mirrors look the same). Homelink version is "HL4". I found a pre-made triple-wire harness on Amazon. A bit long (10') but it worked perfectly and I...
  12. Cheap auto-dimming, homelink mirror

It should work just fine, I installed a similar mirror today. Check for fitment (in that you can tilt the mirror enough for the view - mine fits up very close to the black box but I can still adjust it for best angle of view). Of course you will have to run the wiring.
  13. Black box above rearview mirror - tether removal?

Has anyone figured out how to detach the plastic tether cord that the black box above the mirror is attached to? I can't figure out how the clip is attached - it slides back and forth but I see no way to unhook it (XLT HB). Anyone have any idea what the purpose of this tether is?

  15. XLT Hybrid - Issue with windshield wipers

I tried cleaning the windshield and wipers, no change, looks like a trip to the dealer is in order.
  16. XLT Hybrid - Issue with windshield wipers

But it's the clunk sound it makes which is very annoying, my other vehicles have been "smooth" and silent during this transition.
  17. XLT Hybrid - Issue with windshield wipers

    You mean unhook the battery?
  18. XLT Hybrid - Issue with windshield wipers

Supposed to get more rain this week, will try this again.
