Base XL with the 2.0/AWD and the trailer hitch package for around $25.5k is how Im going.
It is an absolute shame I cant option the FX4 on the base model like you can with the Ranger though. Base XL 2.0/AWD/FX4 would have been literally perfect.
If they can make ANY version of the truck for $19995 Ill literally eat my hat. Ive said that the whole time, for over a year now, that rumored base price is absurd. You certainly wouldnt be getting any more than the 1.5 engine and front wheel drive at that price either.
If they DID manage to...
That backseat is looking pretty nice and small. I dig it. I thought they'd sacrifice too much bed space room for rear seat comfort in this thing(which is completely backwards).
WHile Id prefer a simple extended cab with no rear seats, a crew cab with a tiny back seat is fine.
The occasional quick rumors about there being a 2.0 NA engine as a totally base option make me so happy. Id love for that to be my choice over the 1.5T.
Small sized/stature truck with a decent sized bed, rear wheel drive and can be had with hefty power.
Its literally perfect for me with no downsides. Im not being facetious, it has no downside and offers exactly what I need. It IS a perfect vehicle.
I really think if there was another cab except the crew we would have spotted it by now. As much as I would love a little extended or single cab version it aint happening.
At least I can use the space in that useless back seat to rip out everything and build a nice tool box.
Looks pretty compact, i dig it. We test drove a Bronco Sport and my girlfriend liked it a lot. She drives a Fit right now and loved how short and compact the Bronco Sport is. For me it kinda reminded me of my old Geo Tracker that I loved, just without a soft top and with 4 doors.
Only think...
Id be perfectly fine with the death of the Maverick platform IF they made a bargain basement stripped out Ranger model to match the rumored prices of the Maverick.
If they can give me a super basic Ranger for ~$20-22k Id be 100% on board.
Also the guy has literally no idea what he's talking...
They claim the new Bronco isnt being affected by the chip shortages but we'll see. If I see a base manual 2 door Bronco on a lot before the Maverick dumps some info Ill be REALLY hard pressed to wait.
I saw the first few base Bronco pics the other day and Im completely in love with that little...
Girlfriend and I went to test drive a base Bronco Sport last night and the guy didnt know what the Maverick was really (which is sorta expected honestly). But then he said when I popped the hood it had the same 1.5 4 cylinder turbo as the Escape and I was like... what? How dont you know which...
Yea its entirely pedantic when people say the Santa Cruz isnt a truck and the Maverick will be. They're flat out the same vehicle and I hope Ford markets it the same way Hyundai does since they're aiming at the same market.
Hell Im fairly sure the Santa Cruz will be more capable to be...
You explain my needs/wants basically exactly. Lol. Ive been following this thing since the concept WAS a Transit Connect with a bed chopped onto the back of it and thats precisely what I want. A small, fleetish beater. I do think the Santa Cruz is gonna be in a slightly higher class, closer...
They're just trying to avoid another Bronco debacle I think. That poor thing was announced WAY too early. Everyone that was super excited has kinda gotta annoyed at this point waiting so long.
Or they saw the Santa Cruz reveal just like everyone else did and though "oh ****, they did better...
I believe they said the rear window will be a slide down in the final version of the Santa Cruz kind of like the 4Runner has. Thats a ridiculously cool feature I wish the Maverick had but i think itll just have the tiny and mostly useless sliding piece.
Man, I wish they styled the actual trucks a bit more like these renders in regards to the fender styling. It would solve all my issues with how flat and boring I think the side shots of the Maverick looks.
Well at least we can hope for a fender flare option from Ford(or the aftermarket). That...
Man Ive never seen someone as worked up by a vehicle they dont care about as truckguysc is about the Santa Cruz
Realistically they're going to be the same vehicle between the two. Light duty non-truck trucks. Hyundai doesnt sugar coat it, we'll see if Ford does. I honestly think the...
The Maverick DOES look boring as hell honestly. I havent seen anyone but outliers not loving the Santa Cruz styling. Shockingly good power and tow ratings from the thing too. I was actually very surprised. There is no chance Ford can surpass their numbers, probably only meet them at best...
Lost all credibility with the Ranger comment. Its a tried and true truck design they've been making for 10+ years and with the proper extended cab setup it has a 6 foot bed. Its not even that much different from the previous gen one we had in America.
You arent getting a two door Maverick...
