All this freakin' technology really does is create a false sense of security for drivers, so they think that they don't have to pay attention. The computer will find it and alert them or slam on the brakes for them and it's the car's fault if someone gets killed.
I think the article is more about the blind spots looking forward, and they are there. From the low-mounted rearview mirror to the thick pillars, there are times when you have to move your head around to see past those obstacles. Shorter people might not have a problem with the rearview mirror...
My single axle Big Tex 35SA is a 10 foot long by 6 1/2 foot wide bed, wheels and fenders stick out about 8-10 inches on either side so you can easily see it in the mirror. Capacity is just over 2000 pounds with a GVWR of 2995 pounds despite the 3500 pound capacity axle. I think that the single...
Nicely done. Does the dolly have a provision to move the location of the front wheels forward a bit - slightly ahead of the trailer's axle line? That would put just a bit more weight on the tongue and might help with that slight fishtailing you felt.
I take that back about the weight...
I think that the most useful feature of the 400 watt outlet would be charging/recharging various tool batteries. I have the DeWalt 20 volt system for 3 or 4 tools, and keeping those batteries charged would be a perfect task for this outlet. A very small vehicle refrigerator would run fine off...
I'm glad you heard back from them.
This is why I'm not 100% in favor of electronically controlled - well, anything. I mean, yes, it's treat when everything works, but if there's a malfunction, then a stout stomp on the brake pedal ought to bypass all the electronics and put pressure to the...
I think the reason that we probably won't ever see a regular cab/long bed Maverick is that the unibody construction NEEDS that bigger cab for structural strength. The Ranger was body-on-frame construction so the frame was the strength. Like the F-150, the cab and bed are separate pieces.
I've had a couple of Rangers over the years. The first one, an 83 when they first came out, was a 2.3L with a 4 speed, rear wheel drive. The 5 speed came out a few years later, and would have been welcome. Anyway, my friend and I drove it out to Indy on a whim, to watch the race one year. Got...
I have it on the Lariat - and i disabled it due to the actions of adaptive cruise control on a previous vehicle. I don't like the car making decisions for me that are different than what i want to do.
I think regarding adaptive headlights, a leveling system with air bags would be ideal for a 5K towing package. Putting 500 pounds on the hitch does sink the rear of the truck a bit, so a combination of air bags reducing that drop, firming up the rear springs a little, and the headlights...
You'd think that the drunk cop could at least call his friends on the force for a ride home. Seems like someone that has most likely worked a few drunk driver crashes would know better. I'd rather have the embarrassment of being dropped off at home by a black-and-white than have forever ruined...
Same thing happened to my 2003 Escape several years ago. Parked it in the street at my friend's house, and had just cracked open a beer in the basement when we heard "CRASH - Horn-horn-horn-horn" - here, some young mother had turned a corner on a side street and ran head on into my Escape...
