Worst case scenario, I could walk 1/3 mile up the street and retrieve a hammer and take out a window. Not that I'd want to do that, but there's always a way into a car.
I kind of gathered that from other threads on the subject, after I posted this. Apparently, it's not hard to do, although I've never done it before that I can recall. Odd how grabbing the door handle with my key in my hand didn't unlock it. But with the back door not locked, entry was not a problem.
Interesting. i wonder what my 24 lariat EB would get. Not ready to sell, but it's good to keep score in case you do want to make a move. I generally like to keep cars 4-6 years, and this one isn't close. Plus, I like it.
I've towed both sizes of trailers also. I think that if you fully load, floor to ceiling, front to back, the 5X8 is a better fit. When you start packing boxes full of stuff, they start getting heavy.
With both types of trailer, it was a one-way trip, towed, emptied into storage, and then...
A very, VERY old thread, but I just experienced similar.
Pulled up to the mailbox down the street, got out left the engine running, key FOB in hand (needed the mailbox key). Retrieved my mail, grabbed the door handle and it was locked. Despite me having the key with me and not in the car, it...
I thought I was really cutting edge by using heavy whipping cream and a dash of cinnamon in my fresh-ground Peet's Major Dickason Blend coffee. 2 cups a day, that's my limit. So, so, SO much smoother tasting than the overpriced burnt stuff you get at certain coffee retail chains.
While the Mav is no race vehicle, compare to some of the vehicles I've owned over the years, it is down right sporting. Handles quite well compared to, say, a 1979 Dodge D-20 pickup or a 1970 Pontiac Catalina, or even a 1999 Explorer, 3 of my previous vehicles.
I should have visited it when I actually lived in the region. Of course, with all the cyclists racing down the road, it'd be hard to stay out of their way.
Perfect geezer ride? I'd immediately trade it in on an F-350 with the Godzilla engine! Show these young whippersnappers. :)
Seriously, I'm borderline geezer and I'm very happy with my maverick.
I'm late to the party but I have these tires on my 2024. Moved north into snow country last summer and I share your opinion regarding these particular tires. They're actually pretty good on dry roads and wet roads - no complaints in those conditions. But in the snow, I have experienced the same...
The car should be able to run off the alternator, though I think that would screw up the electronics. I've had the opportunity, in the distant past, to drive with a battery disconnected. Not very far, but the car ran. Of course, that was back in the old carburator days where the only electrical...
What's even more expensive is when the electric system fails and you have no ability to stop the car. Mechanical override, with driver-controlled intervention ought to be mandatory.
Wait until they find a back door into hacking cars...
Imagine if it happened after dark - in a really bad neighborhood.
Seriously, everything on the newer vehicles is computer-controlled now, up to and including the brakes. Even the parking brake, for cryin' out loud. All critical functions should have total mechanical/manual override, including...
Great getting out there. Knowing what your vehicle can and can't do is a big plus. Take it slow, enjoy the scenery and the driving challenge, and if you get in trouble, call Rory at Trailmater.
I do. Parallax is your friend when you have an over-observant passenger in the vehicle. and quite frankly, I really prefer analog gauges. All of them. A digital readout also for things like temperature, but the analog lets you tell at a glance what's going on without telling all the backseat...
(pictures removed for brevity) - that's some serious snow!
And I agree that while the Maverick's AWD system works well, these allegedly "all terrain" Pirelli tires aren't very good. They're basically summer tires with a tread that mimics something of an all-terrain tire but they're just not...
