Oh they have problems. They have been leading the way in recalls. I think the last 2 CEOs have screwed Ford up. They need to bring Alan back. Things were good when he was CEO. I would still rather have a Ford than a GM product. There is a guy on YouTube that drives a wrecker and he has been...
I have a 24 Lariat and it is Sync 3. Even the software is better than the lower trims. I wasn't looking for a Lariat when i bought mine but I am glad I have the higher trim. There are just too many extra goodies that aren't on even the XLTs.
Cheaper to try to optimize the code than to replace hardware that will work better. I remember Pintos blowing up over a damn 10-cent part they left off. They made some dumb decisions sometimes. The most recent is the Focus automatic transmission. They knew they had a problem but released them...

GPS is GPS but I guess the subscription is to get updates maps. Even if I press on the navigation button on my screen, it goes to google or Apple Maps depending on which one I used last.
It is fine for me. I towed a U Haul one time the 10 years I had my 96 Ranger. Most of the time my truck will be like a car with a bed. I can haul stuff too big or too dirty to get in my SUV
