I've applied it to two vehicles as test subjects and will do the Mav in the spring. Just follow Adam's recommendations for application process and it's pretty straightforward. What I love is that it can go on literally everything: paint, glass, trim, etc. Doing the wheels is a great idea -...
I have this combo and found to make them fit together, I needed to completely eliminate the gasket material between the BAK rails and the Elevate rails. Even with the thinner (thinnest) gasket in the kit, the cover would bind when rolling. As you might guess, it leaks, but I also wasn't...
The short answer, from what I've found, is they're only available as part of the tie-down cleat kit, which is like $75. Suitable t-track bolt substitutes are hard to find too - in fact, I eventually gave up.
I found the gauge of the included hardware to be too large for what I wanted to mount...
I don't personally use one (yet), but recognize the benefit. As a first step it adds a thick layer of soap which lifts dirt and lubricates to help minimize scratches when following with a soapy wash mitt, rag, etc. Some people will foam on, let soak, spray off which is just like a touchless...
With a 21" wheel on the front, you might be bumping the rolled up cover some when wedging the wheel against the front of the bed. I don't know that it would be significant enough to make the bike not fit - you may have to cheat it to one side and do the 'tail whip in the bed' style load...
Overreact much? Mine did the same thing over the holiday break. I forgot I had it scheduled, it executed, but I never drove the truck so the app stopped the scheduled starts from happening. Thank you technology for helping a brother out. I'd rather not have my truck start and idle for 15...
Would love to see some close-ups of cabana mode and the interior space of the truck bed area. GFC has a lot of exterior side shots of their installs on Mavericks, but there's not a lot of interior/detail shots out there. Thanks!
1. Most dealer communication is via email, text, or website inquires with occasional phone calls. As you've found, most dealers will be reluctant to just answer "what's your price?" without any other engagement from you. If you look like a price shopper, you'll typically be given cursory...
To my knowledge, the GFC is the first and only (so far) "all-in-one" wedge-style camper solution available for the Mav. That's not to say you couldn't cobble together a pretty sweet topper and rooftop tent solution that would give you similar capacity, albeit different functionality.
They've been brought up a couple of times, but generally it induces a symphony of complaints about the price and offers of cheaper alternatives. If the Scout is your preferred option, you might be hard pressed to get substantive feedback here.
FWIW, they were at the Overland Expo West this...
Agreed. From what I found during my rack research period, all your requirements exist (capacity, profile, pricepoint), but unfortunately not in unison. This kit is probably the closest though:

For people not in the anti-app crowd, I'm surprised anyone would choose to forgo using it enough to actually forget about having it! The remote start options are incredibly convenient!
Yeesh - this thread is loaded with misinformation. Manufacturers typically don't start interest on inventory right when it hits the lot - even for special orders. Most manufacturers have free flooring terms that delay the accrual of interest on any inventory that has been floorplanned...
Totally agree there's more to the job than just updating software. However, if what you state is the case, Ford operates differently than any manufacturer I've been around. In my recent 15 years of working in a dealership environment, the ancillary costs were always absorbed by the dealership...
Warranty labor hours are dictated by the manufacturer and the recall notice says the remedy is a BCM software update. If this job pays more than 0.1 hours, I would be surprised.
Seems like a hill of beans to me.
ETA: Bob beats me again!
Man, the culture of this forum is baffling. It's a sweet mod, the guy is proud enough to share it with the board, and like 30% of the response posts are directly or indirectly saying "you spent too much money on that". WTF.
That look is pure class OP
