I'm getting tuned on E85 and getting nitrous hooked up next week so I should have dyno numbers soon but according to my bank's idash my crank horsepower is around $476 so actual wheel horsepower is anywhere between 380-428hp

I keep thinking about the dragster engines I’ve seen explode over the years.

I remember a guy who chained down a small very hopped up V-8 into a Ford Pinto.

His first quarter mile run looked good at the launch.
He cut throttle at 1/8th mile, pulled off the track at the end with only three wheels on the ground.
He twisted the frame so bad the windshield broke, total loss.
I doubt his engines output was above 400hp.
But I don’t know.

He shouldn't have cut the throttle.........he was on his way to visiting Jupiter!

My 1970 SS 396 Chevelle was GM rated at 375HP. Mine definitely wasn't stock but I drove it on the street on occasion, parking my 6 cylinder Hurst floor-shift El Camino.

FYI, 1970 was the year the factories increased stock horsepower ratings. The Chevy small block High performance 350CI was rated at 370HP. The Chevy big block High performance 454CI was rated at 465HP. Then the EPA regulations kicked in and ruined the horse power wars. The numbers are off the top of my head collected at the time. I didn't look it up.

Questions: 1) What is the top speed you have achieved on the dyno? 2) What is the top speed you have achieved on the street? Please don't go out and blow it up or do anything to endanger yourself, your truck, or others.
