2024 Maverick Backup Cam Recall

I guess not having the recalls taking care of, will work out if you never plan on selling your Maverick or trading it in.
If you don't have recall issues fixed on your car, it can negatively impact its trade-in value as dealerships may offer you less for the vehicle due to the unresolved safety concerns associated with open recalls; it's best to get recalls addressed before trading in your car to maintain its value.
Dealers may lower the price:
When assessing a trade-in, a dealer might deduct value from a car with unaddressed recalls, as they will need to fix the issues before selling it to another customer

I hope they replace the camera with a higher resolution camera. I love everything about my Maverick except the camera and would love to see an upgrade even if I have to pay a little out of pocket.

Can you imagine how slow and laggy the system would be if the camera was upgraded to higher resolution!?

That is opposite of the solution.

I wouldn't be surprised if the camera resolution is already higher than the screen resolution - which means CPU power to convert.

I feel the camera is fine for what it's used for backing up. I think it's the crap system they have it running through.

Correct they took a small deposit after we negotiated on a final price. Paying full in cash once gets fixed. Was told "if a couple months go bye and you want to go in a different direction" then I'd be able to get my deposit back. Using a rental at the moment and hoping it isn't long or else I think I'm going to have to shop around for another vehicle.

Get money back, renegotiate after you hear the recall is done, and they are looking at all the trucks sitting on lot.
Better bargaining position then.

Agreed. When I bought used vehicles, if I saw recalls were not done on a vehicle I assumed the owner was not the type of person who takes good care of it, likely the type that skips regular maintenance, drags out oil changes well beyond what is considered good practice and such.

I took delivery of my 2024 XLT when I bought it last month.(November) . It has been flawless..so far....I got the recall notice last week...I did get it below sticker price...

Bought a new 2024 XLT on friday but dealership said I had to wait until the recall issue regarding the backup cam freezing got fixed. They had no timeline on how long it would take. Saw the recall occured in September. Anybody else experience this? Any idea how long it'll be until I get my new truck? THANKS

My condolences. One would think that an honest dealer would be like, “hey, we don’t recommend buying 2024 xl’s and xlt’s because it is going to be an unknown amount of time, probably months, before you can take delivery of the car. But on the other hand, we can get you into a 2024 lariat, or any of the 2025’s without any delays.”

You know what is best for you. If it was me, I would try to back out of the deal.

I assume it would come down to replacing the whole infotainment system to upgrade=$$$$

We purchased a new 2024 Ford maverick XLT last sat went yesterday to pickup it because they told us we could take it home then when the fix was available come back for the update , well they now tell us they are holding it till the software update is available. I asked them what if I already owned one already and I came in for an oil change they told us they are required to hold the vehicle until the software update can be performed and not release it back until that point . So don’t take your maverick in for service .

Hey everyone, new here and not sure if this has been asked before. My XLT arrived at the dealership 3 days after the stop sale recall took place. So that was Nov. 26th. I put $1000 deposit back in August. I called my salesman yesterday, the 26th., to see what my options are because I am losing my patience. I inquired about ordering a 2025 XLT, he gives me a price quote $2000 over sticker. Then he tells me he has a Lariat ready to go. I say yeah, I know, but they sticker for $5000 more than my XLT and I don't want to pay that much. He then tells me he can make me a year end deal. Offers me the Lariat for $4130 under sticker, total of $32,700! Only $500 more than sticker on my XLT! I say "put my name on it", I will get it Monday the 30th. Snowing like a blizzard between my house and the dealership 180 miles away, but clearing up on Sunday afternoon. Some dealers are willing to deal right now. I am not getting the color I wanted but that is a minor issue. My advice talk to your salesman. You may get a better deal and not have to wait any longer. Good Luck.

What do you mean when you say "bought"? My understanding was that under US law dealers can't sell vehicles subject to a recall. Long McArthur has 90 it is not allowed to sell.

The dealer can sell the Maverick but the customer cannot drive it off the lot until the recall has a fix and is applied to the Maverick.

You don't think all the negative publicity on this issue plus the deep sleep battery issue on Ford hybrids is costing us shareholders money?

Not really. The publicity as you called it is contained to online discussion forums with negligible exposure to the greater buying public. I am unaware of any sizeable media coverage of it, and as I do not live under a rock that generally means that there isn't any.

The fine that Ford was hit with for the cameras is the only recent media, and the spotlight with that was characteristically brief.

The name of the game is cheap parts, and cheap solutions if they have issues post-sale. Institutional investors (Ford doesn't give two squirts about small share holders, and it's not just them) want good quarterlies, and an all too forgiving buying public tends to forgive an awful lot.

Hey Bill,
Since Ford corporate put a hold including test drives on all brand new 24 XLT or XL being recalled I'm not sure you could actually facilitate a full purchase.
I'm sure if you saw a 24 XLT or XL that you liked. The dealership might take a deposit on it. I don't think they can send the paperwork through to finalize a sale and then have you wait for the repair.
That would still constitute selling a new recalled vehicle that is on hold.??
