The description states it's compatible with your "cubby phone holder", but can you still remove and insert the cubby phone holder freely? Can this tray be easily installed and removed as needed or is it more of a permanent upgrade?

Cousin was involved in a massive impact hit on a bull/elk in Colorado some years ago- She was holding a laptop at the time- That slab of metal and glass almost killed her combined with the frontal collapse of the A/pillars. I inspected the wreck afterwards and found the laptop in pieces all over the passenger compartment.

Airbag deploys from the top of the dashboard.

Correct, there is a hidden seam on top of the dash for the airbag to exit. As it deploys it extends to the front of the vehicle up against the windshield and into the front passenger's space, including downward to block the dash/glovebox area.

It does look interesting. Was just on a road trip last week with my wife and I see how this would have come in very handy for her riding over there for the 13 hour trip. Installing with 2 screws doesn't seem that difficult if needing it every now and then. Looking forward to seeing more of it.

You're right but it doesn't even need to be an airbag crash, any decently high energy collision is going to turn this terrible thing into a missile launching pad.

Correct - and appears to be right above, and sticks out a bit
Just curious how much room is left to get into glove box - well the right side should be clear, but for driver that's the wrong side.

ETA - I guess it's not right above, there is some gap space.
