Also an ICE is the combustion of a fuel and oxidizer in a combustion chamber where a motor as used in vehicles is a rotating machine that transforms electrical energy into mechanical energy.
Don't you think this whole motor/engine thing is a bit distracting?

I know, I know... it's an internal combustion engine and an electric motor.

But people use the terms interchangeably all the time. Motorway, motoring, Texas Motor Speedway, etc. It doesn't affect the validity (or lack thereof) of what they are saying. If someone says the gas motor does this and the electric motor does that, we all know what they are talking about.

There more oil in the bakken shale deposit than is currently accessible in saudi arabia. If you think government policy hasn't influenced energy prices you are delusional.
I agree ☝

The combination of MPG and price and the fact that I don't want a big huge truck was the reason I ordered one.

Yes. Mpg. I drive over 100 miles a day if I do the minimum. That extra mileage is huge at the end if the year.
Of course if that 100 miles is mostly highway (I'd guess it is), then the advantage is much smaller if not non-existent if you go above normal highway speeds. At 75 mph I would bet the Turbo gets better mileage than the Hybrid.

Big huge trucks are evil. Also, cars smaller than the Maverick are evil. Powertrains unlike mine are evil. Also, all colors other than Cactus Grey are evil.

Basically, everyone should want exactly what I want. People who want something else are evil. Or stupid. Or evil and stupid.

I hope that clears it up... :devilish:

Really? Because Mr Truck just pulled 35+ running 80 mpgs in his hybrid from Ford.....nd my 100 is mixed and zero interstate

I ask you this, do you need 250 horsepower? Most crossovers have around 180-200hp, and they have ample performance. I currently own an Escape 2.0, and it's fun, the maybe one time I was able to actually use it. 99% of my driving it sits at 1.5k rpm in top gear.

I am trading it in for a Maverick Hybrid, which I think is the true value in the vehicle. A reliable smooth ecvt, instant torque, 42/33 mpg, and extended warranty. I work for a living, and I do my job from the road. It makes a lot of sense for me to have a reliable fuel efficient vehicle.

I would say the one thing it won't do as well would be towing. If you tow constantly, it's probably worth it to get the ecoboost. I plan on maybe towing a small trailer with my hybrid for wood or special trips, but nothing heavy.

From the videos I have seen with off-roading, not that it is "bad" but if I wanted to do that I would get a bronco or bronco sport. I imagine even the base bronco sport with the 3 cyl would outperform the maverick on a trail.
As a response to your lead question, It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it, so GO EcoBoost! As for mileage, anybody that has more highway driving than local would be much better off with the turbo. At higher speeds, which is more common these days, it will do better than the hybrid.

I feel no reason to have the fastest car/truck, so I'm more than happy with the hybrid performance. And have you seen the price of gas?? I drive 30 miles/day.....i know it's not much, but breaking down the numbers the Hybrid will save me $3/day. (I know it might not sound like much, but I'm a really cheap bastard.) On top of that, the maintenance schedule for the hybrid is phenomenal. The brakes tend to last REALLY long on a hybrid because the regenerative braking takes a lot of the workload, longer times between oil changes, etc..... it all adds up.
shoot, 3 dollars a day is 3 dollars a day. A lot of people that say that they don't care about MPG fuss and moan every time gas price fluctuates up.

It was like Ford had me in mind when concocting this evil genius idea of a truck. Like Ford said, this truck is for those who never thought they needed a truck. In no certain order...

1. Affordability. First ever standard hybrid any-vehicle. I passed on getting the hybrid version of my current car because of the additional $5K.
2. Size. It fits in my garage! Fits my family of 4.
3. MPGs. Enough said.
4. Functionality. My lifestyle does not consist of towing anything. I'm a middle-aged suburbanite and just need something with more room and payload for my dozen or so trips to the home improvement stores, local nursery, and furniture store. Throw in a camping trip here and there.

As a home owner I often wish I had a truck again; nothing that requires a full size - but dump runs, big-box store purchases, and no more hooking up the bike rack to my car. I currently drive a 2007 Audi A4 AWD that gets 19MPG (50-60 miles per day commute). The Maverick Hybrid is pretty much the perfect truck for my needs at a cost I can afford.. And it will fit in my garage!
LOL, my wife gives me a hard time because I keep telling her I need my Maverick to make dump runs. But like the hybrid as well since I'll be using it to commute. It will be perfect for driving around the DC Metro area. And yes, I will love having a truck again for its utilitarian purposes!

I, for one, have had enough of trying to do short highway merges with an underpowered car. Almost got me killed a couple of times. I want enough power to leap off the line and merge going faster than traffic.

If they made a hybrid AWD with more torque and a better 0-60 time than the ecoboost I'd get that.
