I thought my 2023 Tremor had no problems with the backup camera. On Thanksgiving I was backing out of my driveway with a clear camera, there was a man walking his dog in my mirror. Now I question my camera always. I also have the cross traffic warning that almost never works. My question is, have I just noticed this because of the recall and been lucky, or do I still rely on my mirrors More than I realize?

My understanding based on prior comments on this forum is the backup camera issue is limited to Mavs with Sync 2. That is 22-24 XL, XLT and 22 Lariats without the lux pkg. 23 Lariats all came with the lux pkg and Sync 3 so are not affected.

All trims in 2025 models get Sync 4. You cannot swap in a 2025 camera to solve the problem. It is a Sync 2 software issue. The hold on 2025's has to do with quality control, not the camera.

[I hope I stated this correctly. If others feel my summary is incorrect, let me know and I will delete it.]
Sounds like that dealer know their stuff pretty well :cwl:
Your summary seems correct.

What’s up with the back up camera repair?
I heard a rumor that there’s a class action lawsuit against Ford for the back up camera problems and delays in releasing the Mavericks.
Does anyone know where I can sign up for that?
I would think that a big company like Ford would have some good IT guys that could fix it quickly. What up Ford?
Just found out about the back up camera issue today as I was at the dealership looking to purchase a new 24 Maverick XLT I found online. The salesman couldn't find the vehicle I wanted but the keys were available. Turns out they had moved four XLT's to the back (behind the shop). These were affected by the recall and they weren't allowed to sell them. They told me a fix would be available in January. Bummer

Why not put sync 4 in all mavericks?

That’s what Tesla does. They put the best technology in every car, instead of having a stripped down, cheap version and then having a premium version for thousands $$ more. And that strategy has paid off in market share dominance.

I have not read this anywhere...is the dealer just guessing or did this info come from their Ford rep?

Same reason you don't put Windows 11 on a 486 CPU system.
Or why some people regretted updating their older iPad to newest OS.

I'm sure the salesman that said that heard something from probably the service department - and lost in translation.

Ford had a goal.
Introduce the new Mavericks at $19,995.00 in honor of their 70s Maverick car that was introduced at $1995.00.
That meant everything had to be done on the cheap. Therefore everything except the Top Line Lariat model got Fords version of Windows 3.1 called Ford touch connect. A crappy not ready for Prime Time system.

We all bought major software packages called “Ford Maverick.” If you have programmed complex software, you know just what you were buying. If you have never programmed, you’re about to get schooled.

Imagine you’re playing chess. There are about 10 to the 40th power games that could occur. A glitch occurs in a game around 10 to the 15th power, and a chess piece disappears. This creates a disaster.

That’s how writing complicated software programs work. One writes the code knowing that it is impossible to guarantee that the code will work. Always. In every case. No matter what thousands upon thousands of users do with it.

Can’t do it.

My ‘74 Jeep had no software problems. There wasn’t any software. My ‘24 Maverick seems to be nothing but software.

This “Ford Maverick” is going to fail. And fail again. And fail again. Sometimes due to the mechanics of the thing. But with its heavy reliance on software, this little camera issue is just one of the many issues we all will face.

I like my software package called “Ford Maverick.” I am surprised the thing works so well.

All new vehicles sold are full of "software packages."

it's hard as hell to judge the front end on this trucklet
This truck is like any other vehicle. There are things you can learn by experience.
Practice parallel parking several times and you'll eventually know from experience how far away from the vehicles in front of and behind you, really are.
