Just placed my order through Chapman Ford of Horsham today - Top Notice Dealer! My local dealers gave me headaches, so I contacted Tom Borah/Steven B. Wetryk and so glad I did. Deal done and Ford sent confirmation order email - no more headaches, just excitement and anticipation.

When in Doubt - Go with Chapman!

How does doing sales out of state work? I’m moving to Portland in 3 months and am holding off on reservations. I won’t be a resident in Oregon either for at least 9 months. Any insight would be wonderful

I cancelled my order with my local dealer and placed a new order with Steve yesterday. He was easy to get a hold of and easy to deal with. Steve advised me that I had picked Late Availability options, which I was unaware of when I had previously ordered. I should save somewhere between $2,000 and $3,000 depending on how much shipping costs once my vehicle comes in. Thanks again.

what exactly is this "courtesy drop" you are after? I know dealer trades are common in the industry where 1 dealer swaps a vehicle on their lot for another vehicle at another dealer's lot on a customer request- but that usually had limits of maybe a couple hundred miles. I don't remember which thread it was here, but 1st mention of courtesy drop sounded like it was fairly close by the selling dealer so no big deal. I could be wrong, but I'm doubtful a dealer is going to accept a vehicle for you in say NJ or Phi- then somehow deliver it to you in SoCal for free or cheap as a "courtesy".

Courtesy drop is term use by the Chapman dealership which essentially a participating dealership willing to be the drop off location and willing to do the final leg of the paperwork like registering the truck and setting up financing with Ford. They will be charging a few for this service of course but I have not found a dealership who would like to participate

yeah I thought I saw that in the Granger or Chapman thread, but IIRC it wasn't very far away. Things to consider here; pretty sure the vehicles are trucked from Hermosillo Mex to USA border, and then on to final destination. Logistically, somebody in distribution at Ford has to slot the vehicles on the car carrier rig (what do they hold like 12? on a double deck rig?) and they would want to place closer deliveries at the back of the rig for faster unloading and make several off loads until final destination dealership. Assuming these are all customer orders, yours would be unloaded at say Chapman- but then what? Separate transportation would have to be arranged to get it from Chapman to your participating SoCal dealer a couple thousand miles away. Seems like a lot of extra work and expense for a dealer to undertake andd maybe why no SoCal dealers are answering the request on this?

Courtesy drop changes the final delivery dealer to your local dealer. The truck never makes it to Chapman

That is my understanding too! I mean we're so close to Mexico, we should be getting better deals. Just sucks we gotta pay premium here and be excluded to the perks other members are enjoying.

I have a ordered my truck locally but still seeking to see if anyone actually made contact with a dealership willing to participate.
