Sharing our experience while towing with a 22 Maverick Hybrid on a 12,000 Km round trip from Toronto to Yosemite last year.

Our trailer weighs 1100 lbs empty. With all our gear the total CGVWR was just about 400 lbs over the limit according to the scales at our local waste management facility. I installed a 7 pin harness with brake controller as we have electric brakes on the trailer. Something we felt necessary when going through the mountains.

We averaged 23 mpg for the trip. On the flat highways we kept the vehicle in Normal mode and switched to Tow Haul once we got to the foothills and mountains. On the flats we often had to keep up with traffic at 75 mph though I much preferred to drive at 65 mph when possible on the flats and 50 mph on Route 66. The Maverick never had an issue pulling this this trailer. It was very capable and did not strain...really was an enjoyable trip.

On our return the Maverick had about 40K kilometers on the odometer. At around 50K kilometres this year we had to replace both front axles under warranty. Not sure the axle wear was accelerated by towing but I thought I'd mention it.

We have a 25 AWD Lariat Hybrid with 4K towing scheduled to build in November. Love these trucks!

You sound like you had a fun trip. It appears normal for the Hybrid Maverick's axles to go out between 22,000 to 31,000 miles, so I don't think it would have made any difference in what you did. Hopefully the new axles will last longer.

Tell us more about your trailer? Brand model, amenities etc. It looks like a relatively reasonable size for it's weight.

It was made in Canada by ProLite. Its all electric - no propane. 2000 watt inverter with two 200 W solar panels on the roof, 300 amp hr Lithium Phosphate batter. Electric cook top and Microwave. 12 V small fridge, 15 gallon fresh water tank and 15 gallon waste tank. small sink...no hot water. dining table - couch that folds down to a king sized bed. Sleeps two adults and on child if you fold down the dining table. No onboard toilet or shower. We stayed in campgrounds with facilities. It doubles as a photographic darkroom.

Looks like a Pro Lite, great package for hybrid owners, I've been trying to find a used one for under 14K, that seems to be the price point for 5 year old trailers of this brand.

There is never a requirement to keep up with traffic. Many commercial trucks are speed limited to 65 mph or less. My favorite way to travel is set to cruise to the speed limit or slightly under. I'll hang out with the big rigs. On more than one occasion I've been passed by a travel trailer only to see them on the side of the road a few miles later with a blown tire. High speed and a fully loaded trailer cause the tires to heat up and fail. Notice all the commercial truck tire fragments that litter the highways. Be safe out there.

I agree. I only kept up with traffic when it was the semi-trucks blowing my doors off at 75 mph. The wind they were pushing made me feel unsafe.

There is a requirement you must be within 20 mph of the posted limit.

Dedicated truck lanes excepted.

Here in CA, the speed limit for those towing a trailer is 55mph, although I've rarely have seen anyone obeying that limit. Towing at high speeds is dangerous. Most trailers are not designed to travel at high speeds and it doesn't take much for them to become unstable and pull your vehicle over with it.

Hey thanks for sharing! Looks great!
Question, I also ordered a 2025 maverick. My question is since you live in Toronto close to where I live I was wondering from built to delivery date how long did you wait for your 22?
