If you don't want AWD, then a 2024 may be a better option for you. They haven't built any 2025's yet, so you won't see any videos on 2025's. Next, you will not have to wait 18 months for a 2025. I would start looking for another dealer to do business with. (Even outer state) Grainger!

You cannot "import" a new car into California until it has 7500 miles on it. I ordered a 2025 Maverick and was told an early spring 2025 delivery...not 18 months. Fyi

As a self-proclaimed Ford person, I'll say that it is worthwhile to buy a Ford after the midcycle refresh, which the '25 obviously is. I'd only get a pre-refresh Ford if there weren't any features (or lack thereof) that are dealbreakers and I got a great deal on it compared to a post-refresh. For me, the dealbreakers on a '24 are no hybrid AWD and only 2K towing, so I'd be getting a '25+.

If you can get a 25, go for it. Especially if it has more of the things you want. The bigger screen is a win for me.
Yes, I like the bigger screen (who wouldn't?). Not sure about the AWD vs front WD, but if it doesn't really decrease mileage, why not? Besides the $$ cost, of course...
2025 production STARTS Nov 11th, the initial builds will be placed on a quality hold for a while. If you need a truck now, buy the '24. Otherwise, place your order and sit back,,,

I just need to clean up my '04 Sport Trac (192K mi.) and sell it. I guess that if I order a '25, I'll lease a vehicle after I sell my Sport Trac while waiting for my Maverick delivery.

I've never heard this. How would a brand new 2025 Maverick which I order get miles on it?

I would definitely wait for the 25 for the simple fact that you're getting a hybrid with all-wheel drive that's the only thing that I'm disappointed with on the 24 lariat that I have I wish it had all-wheel drive in the hybrid model
Can I ask why you're disappointed in not having AWD? I guess it depends on what kind of off-road, or slippery weather driving you do.

Actually now the dealer says I can put down a deposit on a '25. See YouTube, "TestDrivenTV" for many videos on the 2025 Maverick. I don't think they actually have one, but they have a deep breakdown which seems legit.

I'm in San Diego. If you decide to go for a '24 hybrid shop around for discounts. I think Poway Ford advertised $500 discounts. You can do better.

Go to the Ford.com website, build what you want, then see who has inventory using the "inventory" feature.

San Diego is a terrible new car market for the consumer. I do my shopping online as I wrote above and end up purchasing out of the area b/c SD stealers are terrible to negotiate with. In 2022, my 22 Mav EB came from a dealer in Riverside as my local dealer slapped an ADM of $10k on Mav's and Fritts Ford in Riverside had an additional dealer markup of $1800 on what I wanted.

Rather than run all over town, spot what you want and deal with the "internet sales dept". Be sure to demand an itemized list of all items that will be added to the price and get an out the door price before you set foot on the lot. You can negotiate online. Print it out so you have it with you. Be prepared to walk away if they play fast and loose. Or lie or get you to come in under false pretenses.

Line up financing in advance. Try a credit union. If you throw a trade into the equation you are asking for trouble. Unless you are a finance person, you can't juggle all the number they throw at you. Try to sell your used car yourself. Allow 30 days of advertising and responding to consignment offers etc.
I'm not a pro on computers, but I went to ford.com, put together a package, and now I can't find the "inventory" feature. How could there be inventory when they have not even been built yet?
IF you get the 4K tow package,,,,,

Not needing a tow package.

Sorry, I guess you meant "inventory" on 2024s... my bad.

I think you misunderstood me I'm not disappointed with the AWD at all I'm disappointed that model year 24 didn't have the hybrid AWD option when I pulled the trigger to buy it the 25 wasn't even on the radar yet if I had known I would have just waited another year and gotten what I really wanted I'm happy with what I have I'm just saying it would have been nice to have hybrid also (AWD) is needed for the snow in my area it's not always bad but it can be.

Are the '25s available? The dealer here in San Diego seems to have found what I want, in a 2024 model, but I'm seeing the '25s on YouTube videos and that AWD Lariat Hybrid with the large dash screen looks pretty good. Obviously if I ask him he'll try to convince me that the '24 he's found for me is way better, cheaper, the '25s will take a year and a half to arrive, etc., etc. Thank you for your comments.
Get the 25 if you can. That AWD hybrid would be awesome although I'm very happy with my '23 hybrid.

Agreed. In Sept 22 I ordered 2 2023s locally at 2 dealers. The one in Poway was the worst. I tried the one in La Mesa again but they refuse to deliver my order without hacking up the wiring for a Karr alarm. Look at my past post for more detailed whining about our local dealers.

Order placed with Granger for a 25 AWD Hybrid with 4k. Should be no issue bringing it in to CA. Only problem is if the vehicle meets federal emissions but not CA emissions. My friend got a new gas F-250 from Granger and No problems with CA. He just had to pay his sales tax and license fees outside of financing.

Re: no inventory? - I was referring to the 2024 models in dealer inventory. Of course there is no inventory for 2025 - they haven't been built yet.

Hi - the emissions won't be the issue. I purchased a 2016 GMC Canyon in AZ, got a killer deal compared to San Diego. However, the CA DMV made me jump throuh hoops like take it to a weight station and get a weight certificate. That was 2016, but check the current hoops. It was still a major savings so was worth it. I sold the '16 Canyon in '22 with 30k miles and got what I paid for it, then purchased a Mav Lariat EB off the lot at Fritts Ford in Riverside.

Do you mean Granger in Iowa? Did you fly out and drive it back? I didn't know people bought from out of state and brought (or had shipped) vehicles back to CA.

Yes, I will fly out to De Moines and drive it back after it gets delivered. My friend did the same thing for his King Ranch and they picked him up at the airport.
