TIE Fighter Build - Carbonized Gray 2023 Maverick XLT Hybrid

Finally got around to (mostly) finishing up what I wanted to do, has been a great little truck so far and 41 MPG to boot!

Started with a 2023 XLT hybrid in Carbonized Grey with BAP and Luxury package and went from there. Still working through a good stereo solution that's non-invasive and need to get the Homelink mirror installed but that's probably about it for this truck unless the Air Design front lower spoiler ever gets back in stock.

Droid is home built from styrene, though there are 3D print plans now. The R2 Builder's Club manages the blueprints and has a ton of build logs. I'm in the local group which is the Mid-Atlantic Droid & Prop Builders.

I'm also active in the 501st with Old Line Garrison. Appreciate the Maverick small size when doing events in DC with parking garage spaces only.

YAY! Even though Jurassic Park is my world, I have many friends that are parts of different Garrisons all over the country and droid builders as well. I love what they can create

It's Jurassic park, the original one for sure, is just one of those movies if it's on TV as I'm flipping through I usually leave it on.

I can assure you my plates are fully visible IRL, only blurred out in the photos using Paint 3D (poorly) to sanitize for posting on the interwebs.

When I started this thread I did not see it turning into to a memorium.

A sad day for Star Wars fans and cinema lovers in general. He was a wonderful actor and I'll remember him fondly for Vader as well as Mufasa, playing King Joffe Joffar, Mr. Mertle in the Sandlot, and whenever I hear his voicework.

I screwed that one up, meant to say Homelink.

Couldn't luck out on a cheap Kia mirror so went with a Gentex ADVGEN40A4, will see if I need any mounting adapters to get it to fit.

Most are pretty much the same- and the mounting bracket on the windshield will "probably" work. Only issue is how to do the electric wiring. I connected mine to the lamp lights, and both wires to the "only on accessory" wire, so the garage can't be opened if the car is turned off.

And I got mine early and loved it enough I bought another "Kia" mirror for my old Miata- no more hiding a garage opener in the door. It's also wired so it only works if car is turned on. That one I had to buy windshield bracket glue.

I was planning to use a 3 to one Add-A-Circuit to fuse #3 (oddly listed as auto-dimming mirror in the owner's manual) and fuse #20 to power both the mirror and adding a wireless phone charge mat under the console. Not a fan of t-taps if I can help it, prefer a crimp connection.
