Last week my truck with 22000 miles was vibrating around 20 mph, and on Monday at 9:00 am, I took it in for service With no appointment.

Tuesday 11:30 am I had my truck back.

Both CV axles were replaced. Truck is running great.

I have to give a-big shout out to Autonation in Santa Clarita, CA. Service was first class.

@ValenciaOrange sorry to hear my hunch was correct, but glad you were able to get the CV axles replaced so quickly and without hassle.

So I’m new to this forum but seriously looking at a 2025 Maverick hybrid. Having done some quick research the last couple days, the CV axle problem appears to be a definite issue. What is Ford doing to fix this issue? Would the 2025 MY get a different design or parts? Will there be a recall?

So far all Ford has done is eat the cost of warranty repairs, its a problem with all MYs, mostly hybrids, but EB's too. There is no sign of anything else happening. It would be nice if they came up with a better part, but going into the 4th model year unless there is a new part now, they clearly have no plan to do anything.

I wish I knew the answers to your questions 🔮.
Ford is replacing bad CV axles under warranty.
Some members have experienced a failure of their replacement set thousands of miles later.
Beyond that, only Ford knows.

Truth be told, I’m concerned about this.
My drag racing days are behind me. No jackrabbit starts; off the gas when I see the light ahead go red; stuff like that. Will drive at 80/90 when conditions allow. But that’s not putting a lot of torque on those axles.
So, I will hit the 3year mark in January. Maybe 30k on her.
Are my axles going to go bad sometime next year? Will Ford do the right thing by me? Does it pay to be gentle on one’s vehicle?

I have a 23 Hybrid Lariat with 47K. Just replaced my axles. What a difference! Sheehy Ford is the best- they replaced mine in a day as well. Love my Mav, but worried about the next set that I will have to pay for out of pocket.

Which lift kit do you have on your truck?
Maverick forum wisdom says CV joints only fail on lifted trucks.

I wonder if the hybrids are more troublesome with CV joints and axles because of regen braking? Not only do the CV joints get loaded in the forward direction when accelerating forward, but they get loaded in the reverse direction when the eCVT uses regen braking.
Just a thought......

Since when? It is a well known issue and originally cropped up on '22 hybrids. Mine had them replaced awhile back, even.

It is such an issue I wouldn't be surprised to see a class action against Ford as they seem to just be kicking the can down the road instead of actually addressing the defect in the design.

Not true. Lots of documented failures at stock height. However lifting exacerbates the issue with the steeper angle acting on those rigid boot covers.

Tremor front axels are a different part, but no word on whether they have proven to be more durable with greater longevity.
