2023 Hybrid Noise

You said you turned off the A/C but did you turn the fans completely off to rule out fan noise? I had an Toyota Camry a long time ago that made bad noise for two reasons, the fans were wearing out and the blend door was stuck.

Yes I did turn off the fans completely and am still hearing the grinding noises.

It sounds like it changes with vehicle speed, rock between the rotor and dust shield is a possibility as already noted. Whatever it is, it sounds like it is coming from a drivetrain rotating assembly not a fan

If you can jack up one side or the other and get it into neutral, with the electronic brake you can give the wheels a spin to see if you hear some noise off of it.

Hey…. Guess what….. I think you were right. I took the wheels off and checked the area for about 30 mins and put them on again. Did a short test drive and lo and behold the sound is gone. I think the coincidence of the AC sounding wonky was the result of it being hot outside so the auto fan being on low and blowing the air on high made me think something was wrong with the AC system. Also also catching a rock around the wheel area just made for a culmination of sounds. Going out again in a bit to make sure everything works as it should.

I’m going to try and get there tomorrow. Also no knocking or vibrating when turning or going straight, just this constant grinding sound.

You need to do more information gathering. Noise change with rpm? Still there when you coast in neutral? In reverse? On one side or the other? Wheels loose? Brakes work okay? Half shafts tight? Pop the wheels, check for rubbing, looseness. CV boots good? And that's for a start. I had a sound like that when I ran over a stick once.

Get a piece of carpet and a flashlight and look at everything underneath.

We are about to go into a heat wave this week so I will definitely look over what you suggested after the high temps break. 🫡
