We've got a SportTrac at work and I liked driving around in it. Almost to the point where I wouldn't mind having one, but I like how much more open the cab on the Maverick is.

I drove and enjoyed my 02 4WD Sport Trac for 16 years. It sat taller than my Maverick, which I enjoyed and it rode better than the 2WD Sport in my opinion. My Maverick Hybrid does not feel as stout but I enjoy the fuel economy.

Old Explorers were embarrassingly bad compared to contemporaries like the Highlander & Pilot. That body on frame just made it ride like a dump truck.
Go yank some stumps out with the Pilot or Higlander and let me know how it goes.

I always kind of liked the SportTrac. Just a good basic truck to roll along in on back country roads with your arm out the window -- the way trucks were orginally meant to be enjoyed.

I almost wish I would have kept mine to give to one of my kids, but that 16 mpg was pretty atrocious, especially for a V6. I'm averaging 43mpg in the Maverick after 27,000 miles.

Loved it otherwise, 15 years and 165,000 mi.

I average 19mpg in my Sport Trac (see profile pic).. not a lot of city driving luckily. Up to 21mpg if not driving 70mph up a CO mountain..
still looking forward to hopefully doubling that with the Maverick.

Bought it used for $3000 from a friend at church. I figured a man has to own a pickup truck at least once in his lifetime, and I needed to replace the minivan with over 300 000 miles..
Love it, been reliable and comfortable on long trips, take it offroad without hesitation. My son will be taking mine once the Maverick arrives, as his Subaru WRX hasn't been very reliable. I did warn him but what does Dad know anyway.

That was a lot of damn money back in 2005 for folks that basically wanted a 4-door Ranger,,,,,

HRG
But it came with fog lights and white faced gauges!

Honestly they were good trucks. They did well off-road and looked alot better than their contemporary offerings like the Tacoma's and 4-door S10s. They did fall short on grunt compared to the Dakotas, and tried to fix it with the 2nd generations V8 but ruined that one with weak suspension and added weight.

Loved my 03 Sporttrac, had it ten years. Traded it in in 2013 because it was costing $70-80 to fill the tank

Made the decision to buy an extended cab Ranger over a SportTrac. Went with the Ranger as it came with a manual trans . A friend bought a ST and suffered a trans failure at 160k and endured 17mpg. The Ranger is at 150k with an average of 24+ mpg. Of course he had 2 kids.

The 2nd gen Sport Tracs were much nicer. I had an '08 V8. It still wasn't as quick as my Maverick, but it sure sounded 10x better with a Magnaflow exhaust.

I owned a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac for a few years. I definitely liked the seats better.
Seat bottom from front to back was deeper than the Maverick.
I needed to rent a motorcycle trailer. At less than $15 for 24 hours it was a no-brainer. Until...
U-Haul refused to rent me any trailer that was going to be hooked up to an Explorer or Explorer Sport Trac their corporate policy restricted the rental. Based on year. It sill is their policy.
I sold it two weeks after U-Haul refused to rent me a trailer.
I needed something that I could rent a trailer with.

I have used the 5x9 from uhaul on a sport trac 3 times in the last few years never had a problem renting.. So I looked guess my uhaul books it out as a ranger 4dr 4x4 lol

U-Haul has chosen not to rent behind this tow vehicle based on our history of excessive costs in defending lawsuits involving Ford Explorer towing combinations. This policy is not related to safety issues. This is an unusual circumstance for U-Haul – we have built our success for over 60 years by saying 'yes' to our customers. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and are committed to working with our customers to find alternative options to help with their move. ")

OK next time I will use the other rental company in town if I need anything seeing this I now choose to no longer deal with U-haul.

Hmm, Older four-door Ranger only saw those in Mexico.

wrx Year?
2004, which got written off when hit by a drunk driver. Then a 2003 with fewer miles.
Both have been the fussiest cars I've ever dealt with.. need specific brands of premium gas, a thousand vacuum lines any leak in any of which will impact the running, etc etc etc
