I like this one because there is no fits slot on front and includes ball joint for phone tray. I cut the original phone tray down to work with my old iphone 12 with or without a tpu case. Velcro required for secure seating of cubby piece.

I'm a pc/android guy and never wanted an apple. But android fragmentation drove me to it. Every time I'd buy a new android phone, android auto wouldn't work with one of my vehicles. And when I'd get a new car, android auto wouldn't work until I swapped my phone again. Samsung, nexus, motorola, nokia. It was driving me crazy because I love android auto. Finally took the plunge and swapped us to iphones, and although carplay isn't as good, at least it always works. So I took my android geekiness and applied it to 3d printing, lol.

Do I need to download both files and have them printed? I downloaded the file you modified and it looks like it is just the tray.

This will be the first thing I have ever considered printing. I found out our public library just bought 5 new 3d printers. They charge .10 cents per gram.

Yes I do admit android has gotten fragmented wish they all could play along. Which is the reason I went to a Google pixel. I upgraded from a Pixel 6a to pixel 8 with no problem. Granted I do use a Motorola Android auto Bluetooth device which made the switch easy. Good luck with apple, Android will always be here for you if you ever want to come back.

I'm curious what the purpose of the phone mount is if you already have Carplay running. Do you need to do something on the phone itself that can't be done on the dash screen?

I'm in Florida and worried about PetG in the car melting I found a few upgrades that I wanted to print but I was going to do ASA. So two part question 1 how long have you had the upgrades in the car? and two any issues?

I've used my library's printer on occasion too. Yes, you need the cubby insert file, and the holder nut file from the first link, and the tray file from the second link.

Good question. I like it mainly because I get notifications on the phone that don't show up in carplay, like myQ garage door or Ring cameras. Also I'm hard of hearing and can't always understand when Siri reads a text. When that happens I can bring it up on the phone.

I just did some experimenting in the driveway, and found you can control your music without taking navigation off the screen, and while it won't show two nav programs at once, it will put turn by turn on the phone.

But yeah, for most people it's probably just needless duplication, or just a nice place to charge your phone.
