Just started the truck, warm day, AC on, blower on 3rd notch, drove maybe 2 miles, sitting at stoplight, the AC blower suddenly quit. WTH? Noticed the lights on 3 buttons off…the AC button, the recirculate button, and other beside it. Baffled, I hit off button. Then hit AC button. Nothing. Turn blower speed knob, saw two lites on knob. Hit Max cool button. Finally got full blow, cold air! Let that run a minut, then adjust for normalized cooling. Returned to normal operation way it’s suppose to work.

Judging of my knowledge of vehicle AC system I think maybe the AC evaporator freezed, since no blow nor cold air. What’s baffling, is I just started the truck up, drove a mere 2 miles. Did this many times in this heat, never experienced this before.

Prob not worth taking back to dealer if this is a minor hic cup, and maybe not repeated again by them.

Any clue appreciated.

No clue, but I leave mine on 68-70, set auto to 1st or 2nd mode and leave it alone 99% of the time. Been fine.

Mavericks call it manual a/c but actually using the auto mode is indeed auto.

Give it a try, set temp to 70, set auto to 1. Then turn down your temp to 60. It will automatically increase speed.

What I'm getting at, set it and forget it. Can't remember last time I actually used the blower knob. Let the system do it's one thing.

Thanks, kinda what I did. I’m wondering how and why this happened.

Have you checked your refrigerant level? If its low you can get the coils freezing over.

If auto stop/start has your engine stopped at a stoplight the A/C won't stay for long and will restart once the engine restarts.

Was your engine also stopped while at the light(auto stop/start) If so thats why your AC stopped.

Understand engine stops if selected auto stop/start. But it wasn’t, didn’t stop. To be clear, no blower, no cold air. After pushing buttons to ascertain what’s happening, it finally returned. The fan knob segmented lights went off, all of them.

No. The blower stopped, and even if engine stop, wouldn’t think it stop blowing air.
If I remember correctly(my auto s/s hasnt worked in over a year) it will significantly decrease blower speed if engine is off to conserve electricity. But I read your other comment about the lights going off, i have no clue then.

My thoughts too. Truck has ~1,800 miles, wouldn’t expect this to happen. Also, after this happened at a traffic light, driving after this the AC worked well as it should…cooling, blower running, all lights lit up.

Guess I have to monitor this next few times I start up, drive it. I will also monitor if any smell of electrical burning.

It is something I've had happen on my car before, equally rare though. Also have to make sure you've got the refrigerant level for your area. Different ambient temps will require a different charge and you may've just hit that limit on a rare day.

The cycling switch on the low side of the system would prevent the evaporator from freezing up when the pressure gets too low it would cut off the compressor. So I doubt that's the problem. Unless you had a faulty switch. Seems to be a lot of software problems involving the body computers on these vehicles. Might be just a one time incident .

I’m hoping so! Meanwhile the AC working ok after this event.

Yea, lights went off, like the power cut off to AC switch module.
