Love this truck so far! It’s my back-and-forth to work truck. 23 miles round-trip from home. I’m a transit operator and work very early in the morning. On the way home it’s slightly downhill. The last couple weeks I found a route that averaged over 60 miles per trip! Believe it or not I’m expecting my range to improve on this next tank. I might not make 900 miles, but 850 I think I can do. I’ve been a Toyota guy all my life. If this truck is reliable, it’ll hands-down be my favorite truck ever!

WOW 830 miles with 11 miles left. Which doesn't use any of the 30-60 miles some are claiming their truck will go after they hit remaining miles = ZERO!!!!

Ha ha!
I do have a highway (55 mph) for about 10% of my commute. Early in the morning with no traffic I’ll drive it 45. The rest is all timing of lights and coasting in eco mode to regenerate just enough to get back into battery mode. I do not have a lead foot on leaving red lights. I used to always be in the fast lane with my other trucks. Now, I’m *always* in the slow lane.

Do you ever get up to 25 mph?
One way to see a good mpg way to drive find a hilly even curvey road 20+ miles with a 40-50 mph speed limit. Put it in cruise in eco mode (standard will work also, maybe better on some roads and slippery for less aggressive acceleration). It's possible to get better mpg without cruise but cruise will demonstrate how balancing Regen and acceleration can be good. I can get 55-65 mpg at 44-52 mph cruise on hilly. Lightly brake or preferably use X to disengage cruise to prevent cruise from braking if it's safe to coast faster. Then resume button. You will see maybe 40% power usage but it will be for shorter time than if you are doing 10-15% for 5 times longer. Cruise particularly in eco or slippery knows it needs x amount of torque and can use electric or not and may choose to not start ice where as if you accelerate ice will be started if you push pedal a little more than necessary. Any way the point is a demonstration of why it's not necessary to drive slowly. I did a 68 mile hilly trip 71.3 mpg (truck estimate) in economy (75 mph limit) with cruise set 66 (cruise sweet spot). X'd off on down hills with light manual braking at 85 mph. Had 8 miles or so I had to speed limit 75 due to traffic.

Pretty amazing. Are you drafting behind an 18 wheeler?

This is optimal conditions at it's finest, and I'm not even mad about it. In fact, I'm kinda jealous ;)

But you know we are going to poke fun at you forever now. Your new nickname is "Mike The Slow" aka "Mike Slowly". 🤣

And yes, James May aka "Captain Slow" does approve.

Yes, pretty amazing. Your blue looks beautiful. Just don't go until you run out of gas.

Know where the little funnel is that came with your trucklet. Then think about how tedious it will be to drizzle gas into the tank.

Also find the little green gas door release in the fender well above the tire. It looks like a green zip tie.

Check your tire pressure. Mavs ship from the factory with 45 psi. Should be 35 psi all around on your hybrid. Dealers overlook adjusting tire pressure during the pre delivery inspection process.

Enjoy!

I got 55 mpg on my initial pickup of my hybrid on the dealer provided FIRST TANK OF GAS. Speaking later to my dealer, they suggested that the hybrid battery from the factory IS delivered 100% charged giving those good mpg figures. But on normal daily use the Hybrid only charges to 70-80%. Just their theory.

I did notice the tire pressure was around 44 psi each tire. Definitely helping my mpg. I’ll see what this next tank brings me and then lower the tire pressure. I usually run my tires at 32.

Your 1st acceleration using the battery (or 2 of them if ICE/battery combined) would have knocked the battery down from 100% to 70% easily and quickly.
So no that theory is bogus for any tank MPG high value seen.

The working range is 30-70%.
The ICE turning on to charge the battery is 30-40%.
A prolonged decent regen braking distance can take it from 70-90% pretty quickly.
If going down a hill and charge is above 70% at some point the engine will be engaged without fuel to provide extra resistance to slow that charging.

My head would hurt concentrating that much on MPG for 800 miles. If that is fun for you I'd suggest that you get another hobby.
