Between the bed cover and the rack, it feels like there is a big loss in hauling capability to me.

It's made to mount specifically on the roof.

Even has mounting brackets in front for extra lights (which are of no use pointing into the rear window).

To each their own.

It's a hard no for me; wrong spot for the item and greatly reduced the truck capabilities.
