Another recall, this one for tail lights. https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/ford-recalls-maverick-pickups-us-tail-lights-dark-109822246

Official Details:

The defect: in affected vehicles, the Body Control Module (BCM) may inadvertently deactivate one or both rear tail lights.

The hazards: rear tail lights that fail to illuminate can reduce the vehicle’s visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Components: Body Control Module (BCM)

Affected vehicles: select 2022-2024 Ford Maverick models produced at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant between February 3rd, 2021, and March 21st, 2024.

Number of vehicles affected: 242,669

The fix: dealers will update the BCM software, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on May 20th, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 24S24.

I
live in Nashville Tn but bought my 2024 xlt hybrid at Ford Of Murfreesboro which is 30 miles from my house. The dealership contact me and said they could send a mobile repair unit to my house to do the software update. They are coming Friday to do the update, just another example of why I chose to buy at this dealership.

I see on the Ford.com Support website that I need to have the BCM recall done. I have not been contacted by a dealer either by email or text message or phone call nor have I ever been contacted this way. I live about 3 miles from the closest Ford dealer that I had taken my truck in for "sleep" notifications and the Cluster thing. Truck is behaving fine. All tailights are fully functional. I will wait to hear from the Dealer. It would be nice if they will offer a mobile fix. But I don't think it will happen.

All this, "I got a call" or "received and email" is new to me.

No need to wait for Ford to contact you in order to get the software update. I have an appointment with my local Ford dealer this coming Monday.

What does ‘bricked’ mean?
Im not getting any recalls done unless my truck has problems. I never trust the dealerships. Their Techs are forced to work as fast as possible and by doing that, mistakes are made. I just saw someone post that a dealership bricked their BCM module trying to Flash Software Updates/Recalls. If it aint broke, don't fix it.

It means the truck is dead. Like a brick. Nada. No lights, no power. Casket case, etc.........
Dang. That would be pretty terrible.

Just had my recall update and now my cluster display has changed. Now I have ET and trip odometer displayed.
Don’t seem too change it back where I liked it. Thanks Ford.

I just checked and have this recall on my 24 hybrid Lariat. I think I will wait a while.

We are going on a multi-state vacation late this month until early June and will not get any of the three outstanding recalls done until after the trip.

With people having their Mavericks lose power at highway speeds after some recalls were done I will wait until September when my first oil change needs to be done and have the recalls done at the same time.

That four month delay will hopefully have Ford remove any bugs that may appear in the recall software that have happened previously to other recalls.

Unlike others who will never get the recalls done I will do them just not right before a vacation.

I still have no recall notice on either my Ford Pass app or when entering my VIN at the NHTSA site.
2024 XL Hybrid manufactured Oct. 15 2023, delivery 12-28-2023.
I have had no recalls, even avoided the turn signal thing by a week - fixed at the plant.
I have had no problems, but then I don't give a rat's ass about LEDs to create my own problems.

Ford is coming to my home tomorrow with their mobile truck to install the fix for the tail light problem.
