I haven't had that, or any of the alleged problems that SW updates are supposed to have fixed, to date, including brake light issues.
How long ago was your update done? I'm see it take as long as over 3 months for the breakdowns to happen.

Another recall, this one for tail lights. https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/ford-recalls-maverick-pickups-us-tail-lights-dark-109822246

Official Details:

The defect: in affected vehicles, the Body Control Module (BCM) may inadvertently deactivate one or both rear tail lights.

The hazards: rear tail lights that fail to illuminate can reduce the vehicle’s visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford Motor Company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Components: Body Control Module (BCM)

Affected vehicles: select 2022-2024 Ford Maverick models produced at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant between February 3rd, 2021, and March 21st, 2024.

Number of vehicles affected: 242,669

The fix: dealers will update the BCM software, free of charge.

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on May 20th, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 24S24.

I took my 2023 Maverick Hybrid, for Its first oil change last month 03/2024. While it was at the dealer I asked for the blinker bulb recall to be performed. The dealer called two days later and said the update failed and could not get any thing to work. No Dash, or Start cant even roll up the drivers window. See attached picture they had to put it on roller skates to move it around. Some module was to be replaced and reportedly on order, with an unknown delevery date. Three weeks later I get a call that all was ready..... the tech finally figured out somthing to reboot the computer. I have the truck back and the oil was changed, no charge.... but the recall is still pending, and unfinished. I am very leary of any updates if the system can brick the truck that easily.. Has this been dicsussed on this fourm?

Kind of funny, because just this morning I saw an article in my news feed where the Ford CEO was pleased that recalls have slowed 10%. Ford has tied bonuses to quality. Knowing organizations like I do, I suspect that will just add an incentive to sweep quality problems under the rug (perverse incentive).
Exactly at my work it's pretty much known that if you find a problem it will then be given to you to fix it. So the less savory the issue is the more likely someone is to pretend they don't see it IMHO.

On the bright side, I talked to somebody who had a hybrid Maverick yesterday and they claimed it's their second one and they haven't had any issues. So I realized forums only show the issues, not the people who don't have problems usually. But I'm really becoming more and more hesitant about getting a Maverick. I would Hope by the time the 2025s come out if I get one of them or maybe a 2024 they would have all of these bugs worked out. I'm also a little concerned with Ford quality/ longevity compared to Japanese counterparts. Ford should really get this stuff sorted because if Toyota ever comes out with an affordable little truck like The stout scout that doesn't cost my left one or look like it's on steroids or belonging in the transformers movies. I would probably go that route instead
You do realize both Honda and Toyota have undergone their fair share of recalls.
I’m happy the feds have stepped in to subject manufacturers to requirements to fix their mistakes rather than have the consume pay a dealer for it.

Just saying, but I'd go over your body work for dents real good. Depending where they decide to push from, might leave you with a mild dent.

Sorry to add to your worries.

This is what happens when manufacturers over complicate every aspect of a vehicle. Goes for most products with processors today. Just because you can, doesn’t me you should. Back in the day a switch turned on sent power to a light bulb in the middle of the circuit. Now we need circuits to monitor circuits that monitor circuits.

lol yeah, I'm looking forward to that Maverick ecoboost with 4 weber carbs. those were the good old days... NOT
I'm not THAT draconian. 🤣

My '93 has fuel injection and a computer controlling many of the drivetrain functionalities.

The idea that we need a computer module to control the lighting is IMHO overkill. We've taken a simple circuit for taillights and overcomplicated it. And that's just one module in the vehicle.

And yes. Weber carbs are challenging, but patience always perseveres. Especially with 4 of them on an old Honda CB

Had mine since day 1 still going strong 🤞
Glad I bought them secondhand though for $40 for the entire set including turns otherwise I'd be mad if/when they fail.

Yes. At this point the best advice you will get is that if you don't have a problem, skip the recall work. Sad state that it's come to. Especially considering that issue could pop up later on and once the truck is out of warranty, people are screwed. So it's either have it done and hope it doesn't brick your vehicle stranding you for who knows how long, or don't have it done.

It could be worse. You could have bought a 2024 Tesla Cybertruck for $100K that has had significant recalls and problems already!. The number of recalls has risen about 46% in the past 10 years across ALL manufacturers and its not slowing down..
Tesla "recalls: are done OTA..unless it's something like the accelerator pedal needing 1 screw.
