On the driver's side cubby I do not have the light but is it wired for the light with the plug inside the cover?

Yes, different cover but same cubby. LH and RH cover plates.

Thanks for this information. I'm getting an XLT with the luxury package so it will come with a bed liner. Do you think there is a way to get past the bedliner to install one on the driver side?

Someone needs to come out with a beefier cubby door, that plastic thing that Ford is using will probably break or fall out within a couple weeks.

That thing really sucks. And it's totally insecure. I will be looking to put a lock on it but I'd really rather replace it with a heavier metal door or something.

Right now you can't put anything but junk in it unless you want it cleaned out by thieves.

If you look at the inverter - located in back of the rear seat back on the driver's side - you'll see a thick [wrapped in black] cable going to the back of the front console to power the console outlet. From the same inverter box, there should be another thick black cable that would be going to driver's side of the bed to power the bed outlet on those vehicles that are so equipped ... the trick on the XL is to find if this cable is indeed available somewhere reachable behind the bed panel ... to find oiut, if someone could remove the cubby hole cover on the XL driver's side and stick a phone camera [shooting in "night sight" setting] and see if the pictures show some kind of wire bundle/ harness just attached somewhere reachable on the inside of the bed panel ... if this indeed is there, then on the driver's side of the bed one could install the bed outlet + the light by simply having the right cubby hole cover install ... so, those of you with a XL with an inverter in back of the center console, could you shoot a few "night sight" pictures inside the bed walls looking towards the driver and see what you see ... if you have one of those "real time" flexible scope cameras, even better. And lastly, it wouldn't hurt to look at the unrside of the bed from below to see if the cable is attached/ terminated somewhere in there. I don't have my XL delivered yet. Happy hunting.
It likely won’t have wiring if you don’t have the luxury package with the bed outlet.

I think the 400w/110v inverter that powers the center console outlet is mounted behind the rear seat. That inverter box should have one or two connections for a wiring harness… one for the center console and one for the bed. I’m unsure if there are two different inverter boxes, one with one connection and another with two. Either way, you will still be maxed at 400w total.

Anyways, for those with the added outlet in the cab, but not the bed it will be a matter of finding the part number for the bed wiring harness and installing it along with the plastic flush panel and outlet.

You can always add you own wiring too.

- It likely won’t have wiring if you don’t have the luxury package with the bed outlet.

RESPONSE: Have you actually looked at the inverter? The inverter is a standard part that comes in a single configuration to be used with either a single outlet (cab only) or two outlets (cab and bed). It is not equipped to add additional wiring.

- I think the 400w/110v inverter that powers the center console outlet is mounted behind the rear seat.

RESPONSE: Yes ... that's exactly what my posting says.

- That inverter box should have one or two connections for a wiring harness… one for the center console and one for the bed.

RESPONSE: Yes, it does have two thick wiring harnesses/ bundles to be routed to either or both of the available outlet options ... again, have you actually seen the inverter?

- I’m unsure if there are two different inverter boxes, one with one connection and another with two.

RESPONSE: There is only one configuration.

- Either way, you will still be maxed at 400w total.

RESPONSE: Yes. that is correct ... it is just a matter of adding the convenience of different access points.

- Anyways, for those with the added outlet in the cab, but not the bed it will be a matter of finding the part number for the bed wiring harness

RESPONSE: There is no specific bed wiring harness (or Part Number) that can be added to a factory inverter. the factory inverter wiring harnesses are conected inside the wiring harness box ... again, have you actually seen the inverter?

- ... and installing it along with the plastic flush panel and outlet.

RESPONSE: no such option.

- You can always add you own wiring too.

RESPONSE: Not unless you add an additional inverter or replace the existing one with an aftermarket inverter.

This site (Maverick truck club) has been a wealth of information on the Maverick to me. Just trying to do my part.
And it is also worth mentioning that this information actually came from and was provided by the Maverick subreddit ...

Actually, there is... for everything. It will be possible to add a LH Bed outlet powered by the rear inverter (#2) with OEM components as if it was ordered with the upgraded package. Little to no modifications required.

To answer some of your questions, I have seen the rear-mounted inverter, but I haven't taken the four screws off that affixes the cover. You're probably saying its not possible because the wires terminate inside of the black box? It's likely that they terminate inside the box via a molex connector that simply needs another wire installed. It could be more complicated, but not beyond the
DIY realm. Send detailed pics of the underside of the inverter, and with the cover off if you want to help out.

As far as that LH "flush" plastic moulding that has the cutout for the additional outlet , it's available as a part. Probably, Part #: NZ6Z-2629039-A, but standby. Waiting on the schematics with an exploded view and part numbers

The big issue with using OEM parts is that they will eventually be exhausted from the supply chain and they are more expensive than a third-party manufacturer.

(My main experience with this topic is avionics and some industrial low-voltage work, not automotive, so I could be wrong.)

Wish the cover had a lock. Heck I wish it was beefier or made of metal too.
Once again cam locks are readily available. They come with regular keys, barrel keys and combination locks. I am waiting until I have a cover in hand before I buy a cam lock.

I'd just like to point out that I made that post before you first posted about the locks.

What I'd really like is a replacement cover that's metal with a lock. Something good enough to make a tweeker think twice about trying to jimmy it open. Though with my luck they'd take it as a personal challenge and destroy my bed trying to get in.

Just ordered passenger side cubby for my XLT. $40.00 and we’ll worth adding at that price.
Where'd you order it from? Update with pictures once you get it
