Anybody else have a stinky Maverick?

I have the odor as well. Got my 2024 Mav in late Feb and now has 1800 miles. It had a very mild new car smell for about a week when new, but now that is gone and replaced with the musty odor. I love the new car smell and have kept the Mav immaculate! No eating, no stinky people, etc. The bad odor seems a little stronger when I sniff the overhead headliner. All is dry and today I took everything out to expose everything including the interior to the sun, but still stinky. Unfortunately I have kept the windows up for these first two months, due to cold and rainy weather here, so I am now keeping the windows open, as much as possible, in hopes that will help. Frustrating!!!!!!!

10 years ago on a fusion hybrid it always had a sulfuric type of smell. Had service spray in something but smell came back a week after the service.

This is something that is a BIG PROBLEM!!! Mine has been at the dealer since 3/21. I haven't had any updates, so my honey and I took a road trip (16 miles) to visit him. I looked in a shop door window which is separated from the main shop area, and saw my "MaverickTruckClub" sticker on the rear glass. The dealer was closed (Saturday late afternoon) so we peeked in the shop windows.

My vehicle's new name is Scarecrow, like in the Wizard of Oz, when the witches' flying monkeys tore him apart. "first they took my legs and threw them over there!" etc, etc... Seats are out, center console on the floor, carpet draped over something, hood opened, front fender liners on the ground... We stopped looking. I hope the carpet is replaced and not de-stunkified. (won't work) I hope all the plastic clips that made my silent ride silent aren't broken and rattle, or greasy finger prints on everything.

My musty developed quickly, like a month into adoption. Again, I want to express my appreciation for the loaner while they figure it out. I don't want to rush them. I miss my car and want it right.

I only have 2,500 miles on mine and my son says there is a funky odor.

I get one now and again when using the AC. If I'm not using that, I don't smell it.

There is another thread concerning this issue. Turns out to be something between the firewall interior and exterior that was not sealed properly. It can be fixed. Dealer just needs to know where to look. It was found by having all the carpeting out on the passenger side while someone poured water from the outside on the passenger side.

Our 2024 Maverick Lariat EB was delivered 1/10/2024, so yes a bit over 3 months old now. The car smells super musty when running the AC.. It's getting worse. We will be taking it for an oil change in the next two weeks (just prior to 5k miles) and will have it checked out. It's quite an obnoxious smell.

We live in the desert southwest and maybe the car has seen one rain shower, so no rain penetration anywhere.

Check for damp carpet if nothing check for mold in wiper valley under hood. If nothing purchase Lysol spray turn on blower motor on put on floor mode for outside air spray Lysol in cowl screen wipe screen and repeat a couple days hope it helps

SUper arid. I've washed the truck 4 times. It saw rain one day. There is no leaking anywhere inside the vehicle everything is bone dry. It's only when the AC operates so it's something there.

My service advisor claims there are no reported bulletins about this issue, on their Ford service reports.

Maui, are you still in limbo with your truck at the dealer?
Any luck getting pictures?

I believe the repair is the silly putty you see in the right corner of the firewall.

Thanks Maui for the two pics. The First picture showing the disaster that your cab is in, has absolutely scared me. Wow!!!!! The second picture showing the putty also concerns me in regards to "how long" will that last, before it cracks and the whole issue starts over. I really appreciate you sharing your story. I can't help to wonder, why everyone else is not having this issue? How can this be an issue that is only affected a few? Best of luck to all that are having this Musty smell issue.
