Ahh! I should have been more specific. My vehicle has developed a musty odor. I have not developed an odor yet, although my body is showing signs of decay.

No cat piss ammonia smell, but I am pissed off! (weird expression)

Could be something as simple as the cabin air filter getting a little funky. Just replaced one in another car and the musty smell went away. It had been a few years and the thing was filthy.

When in doubt completely empty the passenger cabin, not a thing left in the car. You may identify the source in your travels.

Change cabin air filter or remove as previously stated.

Drive around a day or two with windows down when possible. Reduces lingering odor to help allow identification of source.

Evoke the help of specialized equipment, preferably a small child like 7-10, they a nimble around the passenger cabin and their sensors have not worn out as much.

Lastly remove the source and if not removable, clean it with something that will kill or render it inert.

It is most likely the cabin air filter. I was getting musty smells during weeks of high humidity. But I see it is ~60° in cape cod. Could be from running the heat creating condensation.

Looked at cabin air filter. (thanks for the suggestion) All is well there. My Mav is in the hospital now (dealer) to find the cause. I'll update on progress.

Any news from the "hospital"? Mine has the odor as well. I am sure there is mold and mildew in the evap, but I don't want to take it in and have someone else do it if I can clean it myself.

News is: it still reeks.

I had it to the dealer. I dropped it off on a Sunday. I did not have to do a lot of explaining, because even with the windows and doors closed, as you approach it, you smell it. It is revolting! The dealer did "leak testing". In layman's terms, they put a hose on it for several hours, in different locations, and found no moisture. They took up the rear carpets, and checked under rear seats for moisture. They checked the a/c drains, and behind the third brake light, nothing...

The Service guy told me he had a friend that does moisture testing in his capacity as a flooring guy. He ran some sort of moisture testing equipment, and found nothing.

I have no idea what is causing it. Did one of the assemble line people cut their finger off, and it is rotting under my carpet? This is my new car that I waited 18 months for. As my coworkers notice my beautiful new cactus Maverick, I have been embarrassed to show it to them due to the odor.

I work for a group that has several vehicle franchises. (No Ford Dealer) I had one of the dealers run an Ionizer in it. It changed the odor to a different unpleasant experience.

The stink is returning... I am deeply depressed.

I looked at the cabin filter, which is immaculate. I did not look any further. Carpets dry, no moisture on inside glass as experienced with past vehicles with sunroof or a/c drain issues.
