I see a lot of threads on lifting, lowering, softening and other similar topics.
However entertaining they are, none really address what I'd like to know.
That is, is it possible to increase the hauling weight capacity?
According to the specs, the XLT Hybrid can carry up to 1.5K pounds, including the passengers.
What modifications could be done to increase that by another 1K pounds?

I wish I could help you with this. However. very few F150's are even rated for this payload. You could put the Mav in the back of a Dodge dually 3500 and then still put a few hundred pounds in the bed of the MAV. Seems to me that you needed a bigger truck????? I would guess you could load your Mav over the weight limit occasionally, but you may have a problem making an emergency stop in any sort of safe distance. Safety becomes a problem with tires and handling also.

Sorry to say but that number can not be increased. That is like you said total payload capacity. Overloading that number presents a safety issue for not just you but also for the other drivers on the road.

You can haul more than that if you are careful and understand the constraints imposed by hauling above listed payload.

Like which has already been posted to get that payload and more you probably be looking for a F250. Only thing is being body on frame it's going to be a lot higher to get in or out of the cab and the bed, don't even think about reaching over the rail of the bed to grab cargo in the F250. It's also not going to come close to the ride or handling, or the fuel economy.

Depending on how often you need to haul that extra weight you may want to consider the 4k tow package and tow a aluminum two axle utility trailer with electric brakes. Depending if that would work in your situation you could be able to get the benefits of both, or have your cake and eat it to.

Unfortunately you would have to have a 2.0 ecoboost AWD and 4k tow not the hybrid. Keep in mind that's an estimate because it depends on how much the trailer weighs and the cargo combined has to be under 4000lbs and max tongue weight of 400lbs.

Last but not least. If you are needing to haul this cargo or weight once or twice a year, you conceivable could rent a truck even a U-Haul truck in those instances. I mentioned different options because you didn't specify how often you need to haul the extra weight.

What do you need to haul that weights 1 1/4 tons but fits into the 4'4' footprint?

Unmodified, so you are recommending OP turn his Mav Hybrid into a Carolina Squatter?

Even the 1.5k lbs is pushing the rig.

Trading it in for an F-250.

You cannot increase the payload. It is what it is on the door jamb sticker. You can add airbags in the rear to reduce squat. It doesn't increase the payload, but it makes carrying the max weight more pleasant. Can you overload it? Sure, for a short trip at lower speeds to haul something. At 80 on the freeway, never.

Thank you all for these insights.
I am trying to ascertain what the limits are for slide-in camper boxes.
I'll stick to the lightest ones.

The manual specifically mentions that slid in campers are not recommended. There are a handful being made specifically for the mav but not many.
